Ian Machado Garry teams up with PETA ahead of UFC 330
With UFC 330 just a week away, Ian Machado Garry is ramping up his promotional work by starring in PETA's 'The Future Is Plant-Based' media campaign.
Ian Machado Garry is gearing up for the biggest fight of his career, as he challenges Islam Makhachev for UFC welterweight gold next week. While he is training as hard as he ever has, he's not letting his media obligations lag, recently starring in a PETA campaign promoting a plant-based dietary future.

UFC welterweight star Ian Machado Garry has been a vegan for years, which he credits for his improved post-training recovery. So, with the most high-profile fight of his life fast-approaching, 'The Future' decided to work with PETA to promote plant-based diets as the future of sports nutrition.
"Every fighter wants to be the best. For me, it starts with what I put in my body. Before I was plant-based, I was strong. But now, I'm on another level. This is what peak performance feels like. This is the future, and the future is power by plants."

Garry has also taken part in interviews in the past few weeks, albeit to a mixed reaction from the MMA community. To further elevate his media profile, he has also signed with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Talent Agency, which has drawn some criticism from certain corners of the MMA world. Among those who have been critical of Garry is Ali Abdelaziz, Islam Makhachev's manager. Abdelaziz took a swipe at both Garry and Hearn on X, but it has largely escaped the Irishman's notice, who is more focused on the massive challenge awaiting him at UFC 330. Makhachev is a former two-division champion, currently reigning as the welterweight kingpin at the helm of a 16-fight win streak. Furthermore, he is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
However, 'The Future' is no slouch. His lone loss came against Shavkat Rakhmonov on short-notice, who beat him via unanimous decision at UFC 310, but he has since rebounded with a two-fight win streak over the dangerous Carlos Prates and ex-welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, who he defeated via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 66 and UFC Fight Night 265 respectively.
