Sean Brady blasts Ian Machado Garry: "He's just a dork"

Sean Brady is no fan of Ian Machado Garry, and pulled no punches when sharing his thoughts on his divisional rival ahead of UFC 330.

Sean Brady isn't usually one for trash talk, but he has never backed down from sharing his thoughts on other fighters. This time, he has taken aim at Ian Machado Garry, who fights for the welterweight title at UFC 330 on Aug. 15.

Sean Brady has a bone to pick with Ian Machado Garry

Ian Machado Garry hasn't ingratiated himself to UFC fans recently. However, his first brush with controversy took place back in 2023, ahead of UFC 292, when he was set to face Neil Magny. While he enjoyed an impressive unanimous decision win over Magny, what stole headlines was his earlier decision to characterize Magny as an abusive father after the latter trash-talked him by promising to beat him like a father does his children. Many accused Garry of deliberately taking Magny's words out of context, which ultimately led to legal issues on the latter's part. Now, in 2026, Sean Brady, who is a friend of Magny's, has spoken out against Garry in an interview with James Lynch on Home of Fight (12:16):

"I remember when that happened. I know Neil, I've trained with Neil multiple times. Neil's a great guy, and he put Neil in a bad spot saying that, and that's not what Neil meant. For him to do that, and I know Neil went on to have a divorce and I'm pretty sure that came up in the divorce."

Brady followed this by claiming that he has wanted to fight Garry ever since the Irishman's feud with Magny. He also addressed Garry's recent interview, in which Garry portrayed his past circumstances in what many believe was an inauthentic light (14:12):

"I think his wife's really in his ear a lot, and I never talk about people's wives or family, but he puts her out there so much that he kind of inserts her into that, you know? But yeah, just the stuff about working, cleaning the paint in the morning, I was just, I'm like, 'This dude probably never worked a hard day in his life.' And then his brother came out . Even when he looked at his dad and said, 'It doesn't hurt anymore.' It just sounds like a f**king movie. Dude, shut up. Your dad didn't hit with you a spoon and you looked at him like, 'Yeah, it doesn't hurt anymore.' He's just a dork and I've never been a fan of Ian."

Whether the growing animosity between Brady and Garry leads to a matchup remains to be seen. Garry is currently set to challenge Islam Makhachev for welterweight gold at UFC 330, while Brady just defeated Joaquin Buckley via unanimous decision at UFC 328 in what was his first win since a first-round TKO loss to Michael Morales at UFC 322.
