Souza gets Carmont’s back early, and works for a Rear-Naked Choke. He almost scores the submission maneuver in the last minute or so but Carmont defended it very well. The Frenchman ended the round in top control but ‘Jacare’ definitely won it 10-9.
The second round was much better on Carmont’s part as he probably got the better what was a round filled with striking exchanges.
‘Jacare’ found himself on Carmont’s back for the majority of round 3, just as it were in the first stanza. Once again there was a couple of near Rear-Naked choke attempts but the Frenchman fought out of them admirably.
Final Result: Ronaldo Souza def. Francis Carmont via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
