The English veteran believes his experience and skills will be enough to defeat the Brazilian on Saturday.

Jai Herbert expects to come away with a victory when he steps inside the Octagon on Saturday. The British fighter is set to face Matheus Camilo at UFC Vegas 122 confident that he has everything he needs to beat the young Brazilian. Although he respects Camilo's abilities, Herbert feels his experience and overall skill set can give him the edge when they meet in the cage.

Jai Herbert Relies on Experience Against Matheus Camilo

At 38 years old, Herbert is a veteran of the sport. His opponent, meanwhile, is only 25 years old and part of a new generation of fighters. However, this gap doesn't seem to worry Herbert, who believes his experience will help him overcome the challenge.

Herbert also acknowledges that he will be facing a dangerous fighter. Speaking during Wednesday's media day, the Englishman praised Camilo as a young prospect with skills in both boxing and wrestling.

"He's a young, up-and-coming lad," Herbert said. "He's a good fighter. He can box, he can wrestle. It's going to be a good fight. I've got the experience, I've got the skills. I've got everything to go out there and get the win, so that's what I'm going to do."

With the matchup just around the corner, Herbert is prepared for different scenarios inside the Octagon. Although the British fighter made it clear he will look for a finish whenever an opportunity presents itself, he also pointed out that he is ready to go the distance if necessary.

"I'm prepared for three rounds if need be. But any time the opportunity arises, I'm looking for the finish," Herbert said.

Herbert made his UFC debut in 2020 and has seen ups and downs in his career since. The Englishman has gone 2-2-1 in his last five fights and is coming off a TKO victory against Mandel Nallo in April. Herbert holds a 14-6-1 professional record.

Camilo, meanwhile, enters the matchup riding a two-fight winning streak. The Brazilian is expected to make his fourth UFC appearance on Saturday. Camilo holds a 11-3 professional record.

Herbert and Camilo are scheduled to meet in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 122. The event will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan.
