This win marked a remarkable comeback for Bishop, who previously suffered a knockout loss to Carmouche in their 2025 tournament final.
In a closely contested rematch, all three judges scored it 48-47 in favor of Bishop, as the 40-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert overcame a difficult opening round to secure the biggest win of her PFL career.
Jena Bishop Overcomes Early Trouble to Defeat Liz Carmouche
Carmouche seemed on the verge of wrapping things up early, unleashing a flurry of punches followed by some serious ground-and-pound. Bishop had to weather the storm from the seasoned fighter, but as the fight wore on, she started to find her groove.
Bishop’s grappling proved crucial in turning the contest around. She used her jiu-jitsu to gain advantageous positions, control Carmouche on the ground, and threaten with submission attempts, including rear-naked chokes.
Despite Carmouche's relentless efforts to fight back, Bishop held enough control in the later rounds to sway all three judges in her favor. This victory not only avenged her earlier loss but also earned her the coveted title of PFL women’s flyweight world champion for the first time.
