Liz Carmouche rematches Jena Bishop at PFL Chicago on October 16, with the inaugural PFL Women’s Flyweight World Title at stake.
Liz Carmouche is just one victory away from reaching another impressive milestone in her decorated MMA career, but she's got a tough opponent ahead. The veteran flyweight is set to take on Jena Bishop at PFL Chicago on Friday, with the inaugural PFL Women's Flyweight World Championship up for grabs.
As hinted in the promotion's Instagram post: "Getting locked in a cage with @iamgirlrilla is not a fun time 😅👊." Bishop is in for a challenging fight against a tough fighter she has already shared the cage with.
Carmouche and Bishop Set for High-Stakes Rematch
This matchup takes us back to the thrilling 2025 PFL World Tournament final, where Carmouche delivered a stunning third-round knockout of Bishop to claim the tournament title. Now, the stakes are even higher: the winner will be crowned the first-ever PFL women's flyweight world champion.
Carmouche steps into the ring with an impressive 26-8 professional record and a wealth of championship experience. As a former Bellator flyweight champion, she also competed against Ronda Rousey in the UFC's inaugural women's fight back in 2013. Her recent form has remained strong, with four consecutive victories, including a second-round submission win over Viviane Araujo in June.
Bishop, meanwhile, comes into this rematch with an 11-3 record. Known for her submission skills, she has bounced back from her loss to Carmouche with two consecutive first-round submission wins over Borena Tsertsvadze and Ariane Lipski da Silva. Those performances have earned her another opportunity to compete for championship gold.
PFL to Crown Its First Women’s Flyweight Champion in Chicago
This title fight is a big deal for the PFL's women's flyweight division. Rather than simply revisiting last year's tournament final, this rematch will crown the division's inaugural world champion.
Carmouche is ready to draw on her experience and aim for a repeat of their first meeting. Bishop, however, has been building momentum since that loss and is eager to show just how much she has developed.
PFL Chicago takes place Friday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. With a championship belt now at stake, the rematch offers both fighters a chance to make history—and gives Bishop an opportunity to avenge her previous loss.
