“I’m a True Martial Artist”: PFL Star Eyes More Gold Ahead of Title Showdown

Liz "Girl-Rilla" Carmouche eyes another championship as she faces Jena Bishop for the inaugural PFL Women’s Flyweight World Title.
Liz "Girl-Rilla" Carmouche has already accomplished so much in her career, but the veteran is far from done. The former UFC and Bellator star built a successful career filled with championship moments, and now she has her eyes on more gold. Carmouche returns to action on Oct. 16 against Jena Bishop, looking to add another title to her resume in the form of the inaugural PFL Women's Flyweight World Championship at Chicago.
Prior to the highly anticipated rematch, Carmouche spoke about what continues to drive her as she embarks on this latest chapter of her storied career.
"I'm a true martial artist," Carmouche declared in a recent PFL Instagram video.
Carmouche Chasing Another Championship
Carmouche has been competing on the pro circuit since 2010 and was a part of UFC history when she faced Ronda Rousey in the UFC's first women's fight in 2013. She then went on to capture the Bellator women's flyweight title before moving on to the PFL, where she is set to defend her 2025 World Tournament win.
The 41-year-old has enjoyed success in the sport, winning 13 of her last 14 fights. She most recently picked up a win in June when she submitted former UFC contender Viviane Araujo with a guillotine choke. Now, another belt is in sight.
A Rematch With History On The Line
Carmouche and Bishop have already shared the cage when they faced each other in the 2025 PFL World Tournament final, with Carmouche stopping Bishop in the third round to win the tournament championship.
Bishop has since bounced back to the competition with consecutive first-round submissions, setting up a rematch with considerably higher stakes.
The October 16 bout will crown the first PFL Women's Flyweight World Champion, as Carmouche looks to add another championship to her resume.
As of now, there is no official announcement regarding Carmouche's next challenger for the PFL world title. However, as another championship fight looms just around the corner, Carmouche's focus is crystal clear: add another piece of gold to an already decorated belt and career.
