At 27 years of age, the undefeated Michael Morales could find himself in a UFC title fight this weekend. He's booked to serve as the backup/replacement fighter for the upcoming UFC welterweight championship clash at UFC 330.

UFC welterweight kingpin Islam Makhachev is booked to defend his belt against Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 on August 15.

It's a matchup that both Morales and fellow high-ranking contender Carlos Prates would be watching keenly. Morales's fans have asserted that he deserves a title shot against the Makhachev-Garry winner, whereas Prates's supporters believe he's more worthy of it.

Joe Rogan sheds light on Michael Morales's extreme weight-cutting for UFC 330

Michael Morales is expected to make championship weight, which is 170 pounds, for the UFC welterweight title headliner. He'd be asked to compete if either Islam Makhachev or Ian Machado Garry were to withdraw from the event due to injury and/or other reasons.

In episode No. 184 of the JRE MMA Show -- on the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast -- Joe Rogan hosted former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. They discussed various topics, including the top welterweights such as Sean Brady and Michael Morales.

Harking back to Morales's most recent Octagon outing -- a first-round TKO finish over Brady from last year --  Rogan deemed the former to be extremely large, in regard to weight, for the welterweight division.

Rogan stated, "The problem is Morales is a f**king light heavyweight... Gigantic. You wanna talk about the one guy who's the poster boy of cutting weight, it's Morales. He's so big for 170. It doesn't even make sense. You see him in the Octagon; you're like, that's a light heavyweight, or at the very least a very big middleweight."

Sterling chimed in and recalled seeing Morales against Sean Brady, wherein he seemingly felt that the Ecuadorian fighter belonged to a weight class higher than Brady.

Meanwhile, Rogan alluded that Morales's victory against Brady was truly impressive, given the fact that the American grappling savant holds dominant wins over former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Joaquin Buckley.

Moreover, Rogan appeared to react to some footage of Morales weighing in excess of 220 pounds. He said, "223 (pounds)... 223 is heavyweight. He's a heavyweight."

Upon being told that Morales's recent weight update making the rounds on social media indicated that he's come down to 193 pounds, Rogan speculated that he stepped on the scales after losing some water weight from training. Also, he estimated that the fearsome KO artist is likely still over 200 pounds.

"And his power is f**king extraordinary. He has to cut 20 more pounds this week." Rogan said. On that note, the podcast mogul underscored Morales's youth and experience in challenging weight cuts due to his experience of doing so in his days as a wrestler and Judoka.
