Matt Brown Blasts ‘Insufferable’ Ronda Rousey Over Holly Holm Rematch Claims
Retired UFC veteran Matt Brown offered his take on Ronda Rousey's decision to shade Holly Holm.
Former UFC middleweight Matt Brown understands the landscape like few in the sport. A veteran of 43 fights, the retired athlete provided a context that many cannot.

However, when he discussed Ronda Rousey's recent talking points, he echoed many of them, demonstrating functioning vision and rudimentary comprehension, especially when she mentioned what a rematch against Holly Holm would offer.
"I think I definitely have the ability and the opportunity to be able to f*cking clean her clock and rewrite all of that, but it’s no longer important to me anymore,” Rousey said. “It doesn’t haunt me. It’s not the most important thing in my life, and these people’s perceptions and knowing how great I am and all this stuff."
Brown immediately fired back with sharp criticism for the UFC legend.

“Because it’s Ronda, it’s a lot of people talking about it; you probably get a lot of replies on a tweet or something," Matt Brown said. "But this is so uninteresting. She’s so just in her own world. It’s cool she believes in herself, I guess. The world is in her hands with that kind of belief. She’d get f*cked up by Holly if they fought again."
Before that fateful night in Australia, Rousey spent weeks on the talk show circuit discussing what Holm would try to do. To her credit, she was accurate. Holm used speed, distance, and elite boxing skills to frustrate Rousey.
Moreover, Rousey, through whatever self-belief she harbored, wanted to stand with the former boxing world champion. Holm left her dizzy and struggling to keep pace. When Holm lulled her into a left head kick, Rousey's entire fight legacy crashed.

She took a year off from fighting, only to return and lose to Amanda Nunes in under a minute. She spent over a decade away from the cage. Brown chastised Rousey for her lack of self-awareness.
“She’s literally the one person who doesn’t get it,” Brown said. “She’s her own worst enemy. She became a gigantic star, and that’s great."
Throughout the worlds of MMA and pro wrestling, Ronda earned a reputation as an extremely talented malcontent who always felt the need to either lash out or make odd comments. The former contender offered strong words for Rousey.

Rousey, without a doubt, is a trailblazer, the architect of women's MMA. For that, she deserves the kudos and praise. However, through her words and behavior, those laurels sport the stain of hubris, which cannot be washed away.
