Mike Perry trolls Mauricio Ruffy after KO by Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 331

Mauricio Ruffy and Mike Perry have both made a mark as UFC stars over different time periods.

Ruffy has lately risen to become a prominent member of the UFC lightweight division, whereas Perry was a notable part of the UFC welterweight division from 2016 until his UFC exit in 2021. 

Perry, known for offering his lighthearted takes on various combat sports happenings, has now chimed in on Ruffy's scary defeat at UFC 331.

Mauricio Ruffy's most recent Octagon appearance witnessed him suffer a first-round KO defeat, courtesy of a pair of elbows from Arman Tsarukyan. Their fight co-headlined UFC 331 in Los Angeles on September 19, and many believe that Tsarukyan solidified his standing as the next challenger for Justin Gaethje's UFC lightweight title with the dominant victory. 

Among the public personalities reacting to the high-profile fight was former UFC star, BKFC's King of Violence champion, and recent Duel Arena combat sports event headliner -- Mike Perry. 

The 35-year-old posted footage of the finishing sequence wherein Tsarukyan's elbow strikes sent Ruffy careening to the canvas and seemingly put him out cold for a few seconds. The Brazilian was shown smiling, while still on the mat, after appearing to somewhat regain consciousness. 

Perry, in his video, mimicked the part in which Ruffy looked as though he was smiling after the knockout loss. 

On his part, Perry apparently trolled Ruffy, whilst also empathizing with him over how high-level competition in MMA has its highs and lows. 

Perry wrote, "Nah I ain't ('Pile of P*o'/sh** emoji)." He added a 'Face with Tears of Joy' emoji and stated, "When you at the top it's so easy to stumble, to be there and continue to conquer is a feeling we can all remember from a time we've had." 

Displaying his empathy, he noted, "The smile was relief, he doesn't have to be the best anymore. He can just compete now."

Mauricio Ruffy and Mike Perry both suffered significant setbacks in their latest MMA fights

Mauricio Ruffy was said to be riding high on consecutive TKO wins over Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler this year. He was touted as a dark horse in the UFC lightweight division, but his momentum came to an abrupt halt owing to his knockout defeat against Arman Tsarukyan. The Brazilian striker would, as such, be seeking to heal and stage a triumphant return sometime next year. 

Meanwhile, Mike Perry, too, suffered a significant setback in his latest MMA outing. He headlined the inaugural Duel Arena hybrid combat sports event last month, taking on fellow UFC alum Brandon Jenkins after the former's original opponent Dillon Danis withdrew due to injury. 

Perry ended up suffering a mid-fight shoulder injury, which led to Jenkins eventually winning via TKO. "Platinum" has since vowed to undergo rehabilitation for the injury and return to his winning ways. 

The consensus is that his long-awaited grudge match against 'frenemy' and UFC veteran Darren Till could finally materialize in 2027, albeit in the sport of bare-knuckle boxing rather than MMA. Till is booked to take on combat sports great Yoel Romero in the headlining match of BKFC 94 Manchester on September 26, with the winner of their bare-knuckle boxing match possibly fighting for a BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) title soon.
