Modestas Bukauskas Warns He’s “By No Means Finished” After Entering UFC Top 15

Modestas Bukauskas celebrates entering the UFC light heavyweight top 15 at No. 14 after stopping Oumar Sy, but insists his work is far from over.
Modestas Bukauskas has reached a new milestone in his UFC career, but the lightweight contender is already looking forward to the next challenge. After making his way into the UFC's 205-pound rankings at No. 14, "The Baltic Gladiator" has made it clear that earning a spot among the division's top 15 is just the start of his ambitions.
“We are by no means finished; there’s still plenty more to be done,” Bukauskas said.
His statement really captures the momentum he has gained from his recent appearances. With a two-fight winning streak under his belt and having won six of his last seven bouts, the Lithuanian is determined to leverage his ranking for a shot at facing increasingly established opponents.
Bukauskas Makes a Statement With Oumar Sy Stoppage
Bukauskas made a strong statement with a second-round TKO win over Oumar Sy at UFC Paris. The French fighter entered the fight with an impressive 12-2 record, and Sy was no easy opponent, making Bukauskas' finish all the more significant as he aimed to carve out his place in a competitive division.
The fight did not begin entirely on Bukauskas' terms, as Sy used his grappling skills to control much of the opening round, forcing the veteran to adapt quickly before he could seize his chance in the second round.
Once the momentum shifted, Bukauskas took full advantage, dropping Sy with powerful strikes that ultimately led to the finish. This victory followed a split-decision win over Christian Edwards and extended his recent run of success.
His UFC résumé also includes victories over Paul Craig, Ion Cutelaba, and Marcin Prachnio, giving him experience against several recognizable names at light heavyweight.
The Baltic Gladiator Wants More Than a Ranking
Breaking into the rankings has given Bukauskas a clearer standing in the division, but climbing higher will mean he needs to maintain his current performance against tougher opponents. Before his fight with Sy, Bukauskas shared his ambition to make a name for himself among ranked fighters. “I have to show I deserve a top guy,” he said in an interview with Just Scrap Radio.
His latest win has certainly strengthened that argument, although a place in the top 15 does not automatically guarantee a matchup with a higher-ranked contender.
At 32, Bukauskas has a good chance to build on his recent success. His message after breaking into the rankings was clear: he appreciates the recognition, but he doesn't see it as an end goal. The next step is to keep winning and prove he belongs even higher in the UFC light heavyweight division
