Movsar Evloev is considering a move to lightweight because of the brutal weight cut.

In recent times, there have been so many elite fighters who have jumped weight classes. From Ilia Topuria to Islam Makhachev, many fighters have jumped divisions successfully, taking the belt. Following the same trend, featherweight contender Movsar Evloev wants to move up from the featherweight division to lightweight due to his brutal weight cut.

While he is still focused on becoming the featherweight champion, Evloev is already thinking about moving up to lightweight in the future. The UFC featherweight says he has to cut around 26 pounds to make the featherweight limit. As he gets bigger, he feels the weight cut could become harder, so moving up a division may be the next step for him.

ā€œI'm getting bigger every day so one day, I don't know how long it will take, one day I need to move up because now I need to cut about 26lbs to be featherweight,ā€ Evloev said.

For any fighter, the hardest part isn’t the fighting but the weight cut. Fighters go through insane pain and struggle to cut weight. And often, despite their efforts, they fail to make weight. Similarly, for Evloev, cutting 26 pounds ahead of a fight is a big task to manage alongside his fight training. For now he is concentrating on the title fight against Alexander Volkanvoski.

Ahead of the upcoming fight against Volkanovski, Evloev said he believes he can take the champ down whenever he wants and control the fight on the ground. Evloev says even if he has to take ā€˜The Great’ down 100 times, he will keep doing it. He is confident that nothing will stop him from using his wrestling and sticking to his game plan throughout the fight.

ā€œI will do anything I want. Whenever I decide to take him down, I will take him down, and I’m not scared of his striking skills either. Even if I need to take him down 100 times even if I need to take him down every second, I will do it, and nobody will stop me there,ā€ Evloev said.

And now, while he is eyeing to move up, he has to first beat Volk. If he did beat him, it will be interesting to see his future next.
