Movsar Evloev has given his two cents on what's next for Alexander Volkanovski if "The Great" loses his title at UFC 333.

Movsar Evloev believes that even if Alexander Volkanovski loses his title at UFC 333, he can still attain two-division glory before potentially retiring.

Top contender Evloev is scheduled to challenge current and two-time featherweight titleholder Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 333 next weekend. Evloev is confident that he can beat "The Great" over five rounds instead of knocking the Aussie out. However, the Russian phenom also believes that a title loss won’t spoil Volkanovski’s big plans, and the latter can still march forward and fight lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje.

Movsar Evloev believes Alexander Volkanovski will get the Justin Gaethje fight "if he wants"

During a recent sit-down with MMA Junkie, Evloev said:

“I think he will get this fight if he wants it, even if he loses to me. I can beat him, and he still has a chance to fight Justin because he deserves it. But in his mind, he’s going to beat me and then go up. … There is no chance for him to fight Gaethje next, being on a winning streak. … He will be champion without the belt.”

Alexander Volkanovski Game for Another Shot at  UFC Lightweight Title before Retiring

Alexander Volkanovski recently pitched the idea of a potential "super fight" with newly minted undisputed lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. "The Great," in an interview with Who The Fook Are These Guys?, said that he and "The Highlight" could fight for the 155-pound title and perhaps retire once this "crazy super fight" gets done, after which the "divisions sort themselves out." He said:

"Imagine that. You do that as like a send-off, Gaethje and Volk, ‘cause he’s talking about. Does he want to fight still? He’s like, maybe one more. Then that could be like a super fight. Let’s do a super fight, lightweight title on the line, and then we can both see everyone off with a crazy super fight... He is sitting there and goes, ‘Ah, what’s the point of doing rematches and all that?’ I’m like, oh, let’s do a super fight. Let’s do it. And then, straight after that, let the divisions sort themselves out, you know what I mean? And UFC will be happy with that. Let’s make that happen.”

Gaethje has not yet decided whether he will defend his title or retire. If the champ does return, he wants to fight again in 2027 and is expected to lock horns with top contender Arman Tsarukyan. The American is currently recovering from several injuries he sustained during his title unification bout against Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250.
