Paddy Pimblett Reveals the Only Loss After Which He "Didn’t Even Cry"

UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has named the only loss that didn’t make him cry.
So far, "The Baddy" has enjoyed a stellar career and boasts a professional MMA record of 24-4. However, during his time at Cage Warriors, Pimblett suffered three losses that had a significant impact on his mental health.
Pimblett has previously spoken about how serious injuries and losing the Cage Warriors featherweight title in 2017 affected him, due to which he cried for three months, refused to leave his house, and even contemplated suicide.
Paddy Pimblett Names The Only Defeat That Did Not Make Him Cry
Earlier this year, when Ilia Topuria was still the undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion, he took a hiatus from fighting due to personal issues.
To keep the division going, Paddy Pimblett faced Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324. "The Baddy" entered the fight as the favorite, but come fight night, he was dropped numerous times and "dog-walked" by Gaethje, who cruised to a unanimous decision win to claim the interim strap.
Pimblett, during a sit-down with All Out Fighting, confessed that after losing to "The Highlight," he did not feel the same way he did after his previous defeats and viewed his first loss inside the octagon as "growth."
“It affected me less than the other fights I’ve lost in the past. When I lost at 18, 22, and 23, those losses affected me mentally in a terrible way. When I lost this one, I didn’t even cry. Every other fight I’ve lost has made me cry for days. This one, I knew it was just growth. I knew I needed that to get even better, and that's what I have done."

Pimblett has previously opined that he believes Gaethje was destined to beat him and then defeat Ilia Topuria at the White House to capture the undisputed 155-pound championship.

At UFC 329, Pimblett returned to winning ways by submitting Benoit Saint Denis in just 52 seconds. "The Baddy" is eager to face his archrival "El Matador" next. The Liverpudilan believes he will fight potentially in the first or second quarter of 2027. For now, he wants to gain some pounds during Christmas and have his favorite meals before returning to training and locking in.
