Sean O’Malley Picks Usman Nurmagomedov to Beat Paddy Pimblett in Potential UFC Clash

The lightweight PFL champion (22-0) cemented his legacy by unifying his titles in Bellator and PFL. He later defended it three times. He completed his PFL contract with a stunning first-round TKO victory over Archie Colgan in his third title defense in July. 

Currently a free agent, Usman is circling the UFC. Ever since then, fans and critics have spent the past week debating how he would handle the division's elites. 

Sean O'Malley: "I'd Probably Pick Usman" 

In talks with Tim Welch, Sean O’Malley was asked to choose between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paddy Pimblett in a hypothetical UFC lightweight bout. 

‘Suga’ was quick to answer, “Usman vs. Patty? I'd probably pick Usman, I think. I don't know, Patty f***ing surprises me all the time, bro. Usman's big bro.”

His pick is calculated, since Paddy Pimblett has often proven his critics wrong. However, Usman, the unbeaten PFL champion, has strong physical tools and a legendary team that includes Khabib and Islam, making it difficult to argue. 

But O’Malley is not alone; Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has also picked him to beat the likes of Ilia Topuria, Charles Oliveira, and Max Holloway. 

Is Usman Nurmagomedov going to the UFC? 

After his win over Archie Colgan, admitted that if the UFC deal brings great opportunities and hefty money, he will surely consider it. 

Furthermore, Usman is the cousin of UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, and he hopes to follow in his footsteps with teammates Umar and Islam Makhachev.

While Usman and his team's intentions are clear regarding a future in the UFC, even Dana White responded positively to the matter.

When questioned about signing Usman during a UFC press conference, White responded with one word: "Sure," followed by a grin. 

Therefore, it appears that the UFC and Team Khabib are planning something. Moreover, a transition would further accelerate Usman’s legacy in the sport.
