Shamil Erdogan, Paul Elliott Promise Early Knockouts in ONE Fight Night 48 Heavyweight Main Event

Two of the ONE Championship heavyweight division's most dangerous MMA fighters are ready to collide, and both Shamil Erdogan and Paul Elliott have their eyes on gold.
The undefeated Turkish powerhouse will face the British brawler in the main event of ONE Fight Night 48 on Prime Video, which airs live in U.S. primetime this Friday, October 2.
American and Canadian fans can watch ONE Fight Night 48 for free with an Amazon Prime membership.
With the ONE Heavyweight MMA World Championship vacant, a commanding performance from either man puts the winner at the front of the queue for a shot at gold.
Erdogan Identifies Elliott's Leg Kicks as the Biggest Danger
The Turkish heavyweight has done his preparation on Elliott and arrived at a specific read on where the British fighter poses the greatest threat. Erdogan's analysis centers on the most recent six-second finish that gave Elliott the most viral moment of his ONE Championship career.
"We all saw his last fight – his kicks fly really well. That was such a beautiful knockout. I think it's the fastest knockouts in ONE Championship. And I think that is his biggest danger; the danger coming from his legs," Erdogan explained.
Elliott's six-second head kick knockout of Regan Upshaw at ONE Fight Night 44 became one of the most circulated finishes the promotion has produced. Accounting for kicking range against a fighter capable of ending bouts in under 10 seconds will be a significant part of how the undefeated Turk prepares for battle at ONE Fight Night 48.
Elliott Backs Himself to Knock Out Erdogan in Round One or Two
The British heavyweight is not walking into the main event with humility about the challenge ahead. Elliott has sized up the undefeated Turk, acknowledged the difficulty of the task, and still arrived at a specific prediction that leaves no room for interpretation.
"I know I can knock him out. Still, I think, it's a tough one because he's definitely the best I've fought. But I think it's going to be a round one or two . I'll finish him," Elliott said.
Elliott's journey to this main event has included the adversity of injuries derailing his early ONE Championship career, a return to full fitness in 2024. He arrives in Bangkok with something to prove to the division and the belief that he has the tools to do it inside two rounds.
Erdogan Plans to Drag Elliott into Deep Water at ONE Fight Night 48
The Krepost Fight Club and Tiger Muay Thai product has his own timeline for the finish. Erdogan's prediction maps out the fight in sequential rounds, with a deliberate first-frame strategy designed to set up the finish he is targeting.
"I'm predicting that this fight will end in the second round. In the first round, I'll drag him into deep water, and in the second round I'll try to finish him. I'm focused on winning the belt, and I can't wait for the moment when Chatri puts the belt around my waist," he said.
Two fighters predicting a finish between rounds one and two gives the ONE Fight Night 48 main event an explosive expectation. Erdogan's 5-0 ONE record with five finishes against top-tier opposition makes his timeline credible, and the image of Sityodtong placing a world title belt around his waist is the specific motivation driving every training session heading into at ONE Fight Night 48.
Watch ONE Fight Night 48 live on Prime Video at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Friday, October 2.
