UFC confirms four new fights for UFC 331
Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega, Gable Steveson vs. Sean Sharaf and two other matchups are now official for the Sept. 19 event in Los Angeles.
The UFC has officially added four bouts to the UFC 331 card. On Wednesday, the promotion confirmed Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega, Gable Steveson vs. Sean Sharaf, Robelis Despaigne vs. Tai Tuivasa and Ryan Gandra vs. Osman Diaz for the Sept. 19 event in Los Angeles. While the other three matchups were newly announced, Moicano's rematch with Ortega had already been reported in recent weeks before receiving official confirmation from the promotion.
Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega Officially Confirmed for UFC 331
Nearly a decade after their first meeting, Moicano and Ortega are set to face each other again. The UFC top contenders first met in a featherweight bout at UFC 214 in 2017, when "T-City" defeated "Money Moicano" via third-round guillotine choke. The rematch was originally expected to take place at UFC 326, but Ortega withdrew because of multiple injuries. Now, the pair will finally meet again, this time in a lightweight bout at UFC 331.
Gable Steveson Returns Against Sean Sharaf at UFC 331
After making an impressive UFC debut with a first-round knockout victory over Elisha Ellison, Steveson is already set for his second appearance inside the Octagon. The Olympic freestyle wrestling gold medalist will take on Sharaf just months after his promotional debut. The matchup also represents an important opportunity for Sharaf, who is still searching for his first UFC victory after dropping his first two appearances.
UFC 331: Robelis Despaigne Faces Tai Tuivasa
After a brief stint outside the UFC, Despaigne returns to the promotion to face Tuivasa. The Cuban heavyweight was released following back-to-back losses in 2024 but rebounded by defeating Junior dos Santos under the MVP banner last May. Tuivasa, meanwhile, has not won since 2022 and currently rides a seven-fight losing streak. Another defeat could put his UFC future in serious jeopardy.
Ryan Gandra vs. Osman Diaz Locked in for UFC 331
Gandra has remained undefeated since November 2022 and will look to keep that momentum going. The Brazilian has won his first two UFC bouts by first-round TKO and is now set to make his third appearance of the year. As for Diaz, the American hopes to bounce back after suffering a second-round TKO loss to Ateba Abega Gautier in May.
UFC 331 takes place on Sept. 19 in Los Angeles. Additional bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the promotion continues to finalize the card, which still does not have an officially announced main event.
