UFC Veteran Ben Askren Sees a Different Khamzat Chimaev After Sean Strickland Loss

Similarly, the loss of Khamzat Chimaev against Sean Strickland was one of the biggest upsets that took place this year. Meanwhile, talking about the same fight, UFC veteran Ben Askren shared his thoughts, saying he is now seeing a different version of Chimaev.
Ben Askren Says Khamzat Chimaev Has Become âWay More Likableâ
Recently, while talking about UFC 328, Chimaev said he does not see himself as a loser. He believes a fighter only loses when he gives up. As per him, he has been training since he was five and said he is happy to work and provide for his family. Additionally, he added he wants a rematch with Strickland and is ready to fight him even tomorrow.
Seeing Chimaevâs message, Askren felt Chimaev has become more likable since the UFC 328 fight and has shown real humility. Askren also believes the loss could help Chimaev come back stronger and perform much better in his next fight. On X, Askren wrote, âI feel like since this fight Chimaev has been way more likable. Has show genuine humility, I bet he comes back way better next time.â
Indeed, no one had expected what happened at UFC 328, but even after the loss, he didnât look dejected. Instead, he was looking to fight Strickland once again really soon. However, for now, it seems the champ has to defend his title against Nassourdine Imavov, to which Chimaev has already shared his reaction.
Khamzat Chimaev Gives His Take on Sean Stricklandâs Potential Next Fight
âBorzâ has reacted to the talk of Strickland defending his title against Imavov in December. As per him, Imavov has been waiting for his chance for a long time and is already the next contender. In his words, âThere's no surprise. How long has Imavov been waiting now? He's already the contender. Whoever wins, we'll take him.â
However, itâs not like he will leave the division just because he isnât getting the title shot right now. Instead, he plans to stay at middleweight and wants to beat everyone in the division before moving on.
