Eddie Hearn defends Tom Aspinall over Michael Bisping comments.

The fight game is a tough business, whether in a ring or a cage. Within that, a brotherhood exists, a bond of shared combat, forged inside the cage.

However, there are times that test those bonds. Tom Aspinall suffered a career-threatening eye injury during his October 2025 fight against Cyril Gane, who poked Aspinall in the eye. Since then, multiple surgeries have pushed a return back. Michael Bisping, former UFC Middleweight Champion and now an analyst, offers this take on his podcast.

Michael Bisping Relates Tom Aspinall's Recovery to Own Surgery

"I've got to choose my words carefully here, but he just said he's still not cleared to fight," Michael Bisping said of Aspinall. "But he's been very vague with the details. ... I had a surgery. It was a very, very serious surgery. It's called a scleral buckle – look it up online. It's gross, what they do to the eyeball."

"I don't know what he had, but he hasn't talked about that," Michael Bisping continued "I had that surgery, recovered, came back and had a fight in a shorter amount of time than what it's taking this whole eye poke saga. I don't know. You look between the lines, there's something f*cking weird going on. That's what it looks like. That's what it sounds like."

Eddie Hearn Responds to Michael Bisping

Bisping also suffered a serious eye injury during his career. You'd think that he would understand Aspinall and display a bit of understanding. However, Bisping never ignored a microphone or camera in front of him, so hot takes and content trump common sense. Enter Eddie Hearn. Hearn, a longtime British boxing promoter, checked in to reply to Bisping's comments.

"So what are you saying, Bisping? 'Do as you're told, shut up, take your money. That's all you're worth," Eddie Hearn replied. "There's $60 million in the pot. Be quiet. You're getting three percent of the pot. You're the fighter. You're putting your health on the line, you're the talent, you're the reason this organization is what it is, and Bisping should be ashamed of himself for that."

Plot Thickens Between Eddie Hearn, Michael Bisping

Hearn represents Aspinall. Additionally, he remains at odds with UFC head Dana White over Zuffa Boxing. Hearn believes that Bisping, currently a UFC employee, towed the company line. Either way, Aspinall is cleared to unify the titles against Gane.

However, he will take his time and make sure the UFC pays him accordingly. Great Britain, from a land standpoint, is not large. Aspinall can choose to see if Bisping keeps the same energy in person.
