UFC Edmonton Staff Picks: Welterweights Contenders Clash

Rogers Palace becomes the home for mixed martial arts this Saturday night for the much-anticipated UFC Edmonton.

Taking top billing for the event, welterweight standouts Joaquin Buckley and Mike Malott throw down. In the co-main event, women’s flyweight stalwarts Erin Blanchfield and Jasmine Jasudavicius collide with likely championship implications on the line.

UFC Edmonton Main Event

Emerging as one of the preeminent contenders in the weight class, Buckley had previously stormed his way into the top at 170-lb with notable wins over the likes of Nursulton Ruziboev, Stephen Thompson, and Colby Covington. Wanting nothing more than to end a current two-bout losing streak, “New Mansa” will stop at nothing to leave UFC Edmonton with a resounding victory.

Embarking on a four-fight win streak, Malott has risen to become one of the premier athletes fighting out of the Great White North in recent memory. Competing in his second straight main event contest, “Proper” is looking to send his native crowd home happy with a highlight-reel triumph.

UFC Edmonton Co-Main Event

Since dropping a lopsided decision defeat to Manon Fiorot back in 2024, Blanchfield has rebounded in amazing fashion by winning two back-to-back scraps over Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez. Keeping her eyes steady on the belt, the female 125-lb steam roller takes aim at one of her strongest foes to date.

A staple of the UFC’s excursions to Canada, Jasudavicius has made it a routine to put on stupendous fights to the delight of her countrymen and women. Having picked up a win over Karine Silva this last Spring, the Niagara Top Team product is seeking to add more fuel to her own title aspirations at the expense of Blanchfield.

More Bouts on UFC Edmonton Main Card

Rounding out the main card, Kyle Nelson faces Cristian Pérez. Then, Marc-André Barriault tests himself against Kyle Daukaus. Also, Louis Jourdain comes to blows with Timothy Cuamba. Finally, Mandel Nallo goes toe-to-toe with Nate Landwehr.
