UFC 330 with Must-See Main Card in Philly Saturday!

UFC 330 fight week is here. As the summer days wane and thoughts turn from beach trips to going back to school throughout the country, the action is still boiling hot in the fabled Octagon. Xfinity Mobile Arena, the home court of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, serves as the setting for UFC 330.

Live coverage of UFC 330 begins Saturday with the early prelims at 5:30 pm ET/ 2:30 pm PT. As with all UFC events, this show will be seen from start to finish on Paramount Plus. The early prelims will, as always, be simulcast on UFC Fight Pass.

Late prelims follow at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT on Paramount Plus before the five-fight main card caps the evening at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT. No CBS simulcast will be held for UFC 330. If there are no alterations to be made to the schedule, 12 fights will be contested this Saturday.

UFC 330 Featured Prelim: Chidi Njokuani vs. Joel Alvarez: Njokuani Looking to Snap Two-Fight Skid

At the top of the bill for the undercard on Saturday night, the welterweights take to the cage when Chidi Njokuani (25-12, 1 NC MMA, 5-5 UFC) fights Joel Alvarez (23-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC.) All fights mentioned herein are three rounds at five minutes per round.

Chidi Njokuani enters UFC 330 on Saturday night having gone 3-2 in his last five fights. He's dropped two fights in a row, however. 

On Feb. 21, during UFC Houston, he dropped a unanimous decision to Carlos Leal (23-7 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in the latter's 30th professional MMA fight. In so doing, his UFC record dropped to .500.

He'll be seeking a return to victory lane, but he'll be doing so against a new opponent.

Joel Alvarez Comes in on Short Notice

Initially, Chidi Njokuani's opponent for the UFC 330 featured prelim was to have been Geoff Neal, but a few weeks ago, Neal would withdraw from UFC 330 due to a hand injury. Joel Alvarez was subsequently named as Neal's replacement.

Across the way, Alvarez is sporting a record of 3-2 in his own right. On May 12, during UFC 328, he was on the receiving end of a second-round submission by way of arm-triangle choke from Yaroslav Amosov (30-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in the latter's sophomore appearance in the promotion.

As recently as a few weeks ago, Joel Alvarez wasn't even scheduled to compete on UFC 330. How will he fare in this short-notice fight?

UFC 330 Co-Featured Prelim: Charles Johnson vs. Eduardo Henrique: Johnson Going for 20th Win

Immediately prior to the featured prelim, the flyweights go to battle when Charles Johnson (19-9 MMA, 8-7 UFC) meets Eduardo Henrique (15-2 MMA, UFC promotional debut) in a short-notice fight for the latter. Johnson will be making the walk Saturday night having gone 2-3 in his last five outings.

On the night of June 27, he lost by way of submission due to Suloev stretch in the third round to Asu Almabayev (24-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) during UFC Baku. In so doing, Almabayev secured the $50,000 (USD) bonus for the Performance of the Night. 

Johnson faces a quick turnaround. By the time the cage door closes on Saturday night, just 49 days, seven weeks, will have passed between fights.

Eduardo Henrique Makes UFC Debut on a Few Days' Notice

Meanwhile, Eduardo Henrique enters his UFC debut with only a few days to prepare. He's gone 5-0 in his last five fights that have counted toward his professional record.

Right after Labor Day in September of last year, he set foot in Meta Apex for an appearance on Dana White's Contender Series against An Tuan Ho (8-2 MMA, 0-2 DWCS) in the latter's second DWCS appearance, winning by unanimous decision. Despite Henrique's win, he did not secure a UFC contract.

Earlier in the week, published reports indicated that Charles Johnson's scheduled opponent, Jose Ochoa, had to resign from UFC 330 due to injury. On Wednesday afternoon, the promotion announced that Ochoa would no longer be competing.

While Eduardo Henrique's path to the UFC has had detours, he's now a member of the roster. On Monday, he wasn't even slated to fight on the card, but on Saturday, he'll be fighting under the UFC banner for the first time. 

UFC 330: Donte Johnson vs. Eric McConico: Johnson Seeking to Remain Undefeated

Also on the UFC 330 prelims, middleweight action takes place between Donte Johnson (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Eric McConico (11-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC.) Johnson has yet to taste defeat as a professional fighter.

Last time out, he scored a split decision victory over Cody Brundage (12-9-1, 1 NC MMA, 6-8-1, 1 NC UFC) on March 7 during UFC 326 inside T-Mobile Arena in Enterprise, NV. This was Brundage's third loss in succession and fourth bout in a winless streak which was finally snapped in May.

While this is only Johnson's third UFC appearance, anytime an undefeated fighter competes on a card, it's mandatory viewing. Can he go 9-for-9 in MMA?

Eric McConico Looks to Hand First Loss to Donte Johnson

In the other corner, Eric McConico has posted a record of 3-2 in his last five fights. On April 26, he outpaced Rodolfo Vieira (11-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) to secure the unanimous decision victory after 15 minutes of action. 

Prior to joining the UFC's active roster, he had a five-fight winning streak. With McConico facing an undefeated fighter in UFC 330's undercard, the pressure will be on for certain.

How McConico responds to the pressure remains to be seen.

• A middleweight contest matching Vicente Luque (24-12-1 MMA, 17-8 UFC) against Tresean Gore (6-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC,)
• a light heavyweight fight in the featured early prelim between Rafael Tobias (14-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Lucas Fernando (13-3 MMA, UFC promotional debut,)
• a welterweight bout versing Neil Magny (31-14 MMA, 24-13 UFC) against Ramiz Brahimaj (13-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC,)
• and a welterweight contest pairing Jeremiah Wells (13-4-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) with Myktybek Orolbai (16-2-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC.)
