UFC 270 Results

The UFC’s first title fights of 2022 happen on Saturday night as MMASucka provides UFC 270 results throughout the card. In the main event, the heavyweight title is on the line as Francis Ngannou takes on interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. Plus, the co-main event features a trilogy fight as flyweight champion Brandon Moreno faces off against Deiveson Figueiredo.

UFC 270 Results – Main Event

Francis Ngannou looks to defend his heavyweight title for the first time since winning it in 2021. He enters his first title defense having won his last five straight fights. Dating back to 2018, all five of Ngannou’s wins over that time came by KO or TKO. The first of those wins was a first round TKO win over Curtis Blaydes in their main event at UFC Fight Night 141. Following that win, Ngannou finished former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez in the first round of their UFC on ESPN 1 main event. The third of the five straight wins was a TKO win over another former champion in the main event of UFC on ESPN 3 as he defeated Junior dos Santos. Finally, the win that granted Ngannou a rematch with the champion, Stipe Miocic, was another first round KO win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 249. Over those four fights, Ngannou’s total time in the octagon added up to only a little under three minutes. In his rematch with Miocic at UFC 260, Ngannou became the first Cameroon-born UFC champion with a KO win in round two. As he enters UFC 270, Ngannou attempts to defend his title for the first time against an old friend.

Ngannou’s opponent on Saturday will be his former teammate and UFC interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane. Gane has been fighting professionally since 2018 as he made his pro debut a few months before Ngannou finished Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 141. Gane made his UFC debut after just three straight finishes to start off his pro career. Gane quickly put together another three straight victories in his first three UFC outings with back-to-back submission wins over Raphael Pessoa and Don’Tale Mayes, plus a decision win over Tanner Boser. After that, Gane faced off against former champion, Junior dos Santos, at UFC 256, finishing him in the second round by TKO. After putting together a career record of 7-0 in just two years, Gane appeared in his first main event in a matchup with Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Fight Night 186. Gane won that fight by unanimous decision to earn him another main event, this time opposite Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 30. A unanimous decision win over Volkov to improve his record to 9-0 earned Gane a shot at the interim title against Derrick Lewis at UFC 265. Gane won the interim title that night as he finished Lewis in the third round by TKO.

UFC 270 Results – Co-Main Event

Before the heavyweight title fight in the main event, the flyweight title will be on the line in the co-main event as Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo face off for the third time in the last 14 months. In the first two fights, Figueiredo entered the octagon as the champion. Now, Moreno holds the title after coming up victorious in his last fight with Figueiredo.

Prior to their first meeting, Moreno had gone on a four fight unbeaten streak since reentering the UFC in 2019. In his return fight, he fought to a draw with Askar Askarov. After that, Moreno won three straight fights to earn him a shot at the title. The first of those wins was a unanimous decision win over Kai Kara-France. Moreno followed that up with another unanimous decision win over Jussier Formiga in his next fight. The win that would earn Moreno a title shot was a first round TKO win over Brandon Royval in their meeting at UFC 255.

Meanwhile, while Moreno was making his reemergence into the octagon, Figueiredo lost for the first time in his pro career just a couple months before Moreno had his comeback fight. That loss came against Jussier Formiga after previously having held a record of 15-0. Following that loss, Figueiredo won his next two straight fights, earning him a shot at the vacant flyweight title after Henry Cejudo‘s abrupt retirement at the end of 2019. The two straight wins that would earn him that opportunity was a unanimous decision win over Alexandre Pantoja followed by a submission win over Tim Elliott. Figeuiredo earned the title shot with that win as he faced off against Joseph Benavidez for the vacant title. In that first fight, Figueiredo would miss weight, making him ineligible to win the title. He still won the fight, finishing Benavidez by TKO in round two at UFC Fight Night 169. An immediate rematch was scheduled, and this time around, Figueiredo made the weight. He won again, capturing the title with a submission win in round one. Figueiredo successfully defended his title once after that with a first round submission win over Alex Perez at UFC 255.

Following both fighters’ appearances at UFC 255, a title fight between the two quickly materialized as they were scheduled to meet a few weeks later at UFC 256. After five hard-fought, highly entertaining rounds of championship action, Figueiredo and Moreno’s first fight was ruled a majority draw. The two were quickly booked for a rematch six months later at UFC 263. In that fight, Moreno did not allow for the judges to come into play again as he finished Figueiredo by submission in the third round.

UFC 270 Results – Main Card

Kicking off Saturday night’s UFC 270 main card will be a fight in the welterweight division as Michael Morales takes on Trevin Giles. Morales makes his UFC debut with an undefeated record of 12-0 after a successful appearance on Dana White‘s Contender Series. Meanwhile, Giles makes his eighth UFC appearance following a knockout loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 264.

Following that fight will be a matchup between two bantamweights as Cody Stamann faces off against Said Nurmagomedov. Stamann enters the fight coming off of two straight unanimous decision losses against Jimmie Rivera at UFC on ESPN 13 and against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Vegas 25. Nurmagomedov enters the fight after a successful outing in his last appearance. In that fight, Nurmagomedov finished Mark Striegl by KO at UFC Fight Night 180.

Finally, before the title fights begin, the third fight on the main card features a welterweight matchup between Michel Pereira and Andre Fialho. Pereira looks to win his fourth straight fight as he takes on Fialho. Pereira’s last three wins include a technical submission win over Zelim Imadaev at UFC Fight Night 176. That win was followed by back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Khaos Williams at UFC Fight Night 183 and Niko Price at UFC 264. As for Fialho, he will be making his UFC debut following four straight wins outside of the UFC, including a second round TKO win over former UFC fighter James Vick at XMMA 1.
