UFC Vegas 58 Results

With International Fight Week in the books, the UFC returns to the Apex Center with an exciting lightweight main event as MMASucka provides UFC Vegas 58 results all evening. In the main event will be a fight between two Rafaels as Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev.

UFC Vegas 58 Results – Main Event

For Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev, this is the third time they have been scheduled to face each other. The first time they were supposed to fight was in the main event of UFC Vegas 48. Unfortunately, Fiziev was forced out of the fight due to visa issues and the pairing would be rescheduled for UFC 272. But it would be scrapped a second time with Fiziev getting COVID prior to UFC 272, forcing him out of the fight once again. Now, the two are on weight and ready to step into the octagon to finally face off against one another.

Coming into this fight, dos Anjos has only made three appearances since the beginning of 2020. Of those three appearances, he has won two out of the three. In 2020, he went 1-1, losing his first fight that year to Michael Chiesa by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 166. That fight added to another recent loss of his, putting dos Anjos on a two fight win streak. He snapped that streak with a win later that year in a main event against Paul Felder at UFC Fight Night 182 where he won by split decision. Following his win over Felder, the UFC was hoping to set up a long awaited matchup between him and Islam Makhachev, but RDA would be forced out of the fight. It took him about a year and a half to step back into the octagon when he faced Renato Moicano at UFC 272, defeating him by unanimous decision.

Fiziev will be coming into this fight with five straight wins behind him. He has not lost since he made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 149. In that fight, he was finished in the first round by TKO against Magomed Mustafaev. Since then, Fiziev has won his last five straight starting with a unanimous decision win over Alex White at UFC Fight Night 162. Following that win was another UD victory over Marc Diakiese at UFC Fight Night 172. His first finish in the UFC came in his third win when he knocked Renato Moicano out at UFC 256 in the first round. After that, Fiziev picked up another unanimous decision win, this time over Bobby Green at UFC 265. In his most recent fight, Fiziev finished Brad Riddell by knockout at UFC Vegas 44.

UFC Vegas 58 Results – Co-Main Event

In Saturday night’s co-main event, middleweights face off as Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan. Both fighters are coming off of their debuts in the UFC where they were each successful. Also, they both earned their UFC contracts after successful outings on Dana White‘s Contender Series.

In Borralho’s DWCS outing, he picked up a TKO finish in the first round of his bout against Jesse Murray. In his UFC debut, Borralho won by technical unanimous decision after an accidental illegal knee from Borralho made his opponent, Gadzhi Omargadzhiev, unable to continue.

As for Petrosyan, he secured his contract on the Contender Series with a first round head kick knockout over Kaloyan Kolev. In his UFC debut, Petrosyan picked up a split decision win over Gregory Rodrigues during their meeting at UFC Vegas 49.

UFC Vegas 58 – Main Card

Kicking off the main card for UFC Vegas 58, Michael Johnson will take on Jamie Mullarkey in a lightweight fight. Johnson is coming into the fight coming off a recent second round knockout win over Alan Patrick at UFC Vegas 54 that snapped a recent four fight losing streak of his.

As for Mullarkey, he recently had a two fight win streak snapped at the hands of Jalin Turner at UFC 272, losing to him by TKO in the second round.

The second fight on the main card was set to feature a women’s flyweight matchup between Cynthia Calvillo and Nina Nunes. Unfortunately, Nunes caught a stomach virus after weigh ins, forcing her to step out of her fight with Calvillo. It looks like the UFC is trying to reschedule Calvillo and Nunes for August’s UFC on ESPN 41 in San Diego, California.

As a result, the original featured prelim between bantamweights Aiemann Zahabi and Ricky Turcios will take the second slot on the main card. Zahabi has not fought since February 2021 where he picked up a knockout win in the first round over Drako Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 185. That win snapped a two fight losing streak for Zahabi, putting his UFC record at 2-2 going into his bout with Turcios.

Last summer, at UFC Vegas 35, Ricky Turcios became the winner of season 29 of The Ultimate Fighter. In order to do so, he defeated Brady Hiestand by split decision to become the bantamweight winner of that season. Now, he makes his official debut against Zahabi at UFC Vegas 58.

Fight number three on the main card will feature a heavyweight fight between Jared Vanderaa and Chase Sherman. Vanderaa is entering the fight on a three fight losing streak. Those losses include a second round TKO loss to Alexander Romanov at UFC Vegas 39, followed by a split decision loss to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 271, finally followed up by a submission loss to Alexey Oleinik at UFC 273.

Much like his opponent, Sherman has also lost consecutive fights coming into this one as Sherman has lost four straight. Two of those losses came by unanimous decision against Andrei Arlovski and Parker Porter. The other two were submission losses to Jake Collier and Alexander Romanov.

Finally, before the co-main event, there will be a matchup in the bantamweight division between Douglas Silva de Andrade and Said Nurmagomedov. De Andrade enters the fight on a two fight win streak coming off of a first round knockout win over Gaetano Pirrello at UFC Vegas 38 followed by a submission win over Sergey Morozov at UFC 271.

Nurmagomedov will also be entering the fight on a two fight win streak. Similarly to his opponent de Andrade, Nurmagomedov is also coming off of a first round knockout win over Mark Streigl at UFC Fight Night 180 followed by a first round submission win over Cody Stamann in his most recent fight at UFC 270.
