The UFC makes its first trip back to London since 2019 when Jorge Masvidal defeated Darren Till at UFC Fight Night 147. This time around, heavyweights headline the card as Alexander Volkov takes on Tom Aspinall while MMASucka provides live UFC Fight Night 204 results.
UFC Fight Night 204 Results – Main Event
After he started his UFC career at 4-0, picking up a knockout win over former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum over that time as well, Volkov has since gone 4-3. He lost his next two out of three fights following those four straight wins as Derrick Lewis finished him by knockout at UFC 229 and Curtis Blaydes defeated him by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 11. In between those losses, Volkov picked up a unanimous decision win over Greg Hardy at UFC Fight Night 163.
Over the last two years, Volkov has started to climb the ranks once again as he has won three out of his last four. After the loss against Blaydes, Volkov won two in a row with back-to-back TKO wins over Walt Harris at UFC 254 and Alistair Overeem at UFC Fight Night 184. His short-lived, two-fight win streak was snapped in his next outing after he lost to Ciryl Gane by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 30. In Volkov’s most recent fight, he picked up a unanimous decision win over Marcin Tybura at UFC 267. He looks to stop Aspinall’s momentum and continue to climb the rankings.
Aspinall enters the fight on a seven-fight win streak with his last four straight being in the UFC. He made his UFC debut in July 2020 after two straight first-round TKO wins with Cage Warriors in 2019. In his debut fight, Aspinall faced Jake Collier at UFC on ESPN 14, winning the fight by TKO in 45 seconds. Three months later, he picked up another first-round TKO win in just over a minute and a half against Alan Baudot at UFC Fight Night 179.
He picked up his biggest win yet in the UFC during his next fight when he submitted former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski in round two of their matchup at UFC Fight Night 185. In Aspinall’s most recent fight, he picked up his seventh straight win and seventh straight finish, improving his UFC record to 4-0 with a first-round TKO win over Sergey Spivak at UFC Vegas 36. Aspinall looks to improve his win streak to eight and his UFC record to 5-0 as he looks to pick up a big win over Volkov in his first main event in front of his home country.
UFC Fight Night 204 Results – Co-Main Event
In Saturday night’s co-main event, Dan Hooker will drop down to featherweight after spending nearly the last five years of his career at lightweight. He will be taking on the seventh-ranked featherweight contender, Arnold Allen. Allen will be entering the fight with ten straight wins behind him, with eight of those being in the UFC.
He made his debut in 2015, picking up a submission win over Alan Omer at UFC Fight Night 69. In his next two fights, he beat Yaotzin Meza by UD at UFC Fight Night 84, followed by a split decision win over Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Fight Night 107. In 2018, he extended his UFC record to 4-0 with a submission win over Mads Burnell at UFC Fight Night 130.
His last four wins have all come by unanimous decision. Allen picked up two wins in 2019 by UD over Jordan Rinaldi at UFC Fight Night 147 and Gilbert Melendez at UFC 239. In 2020, Allen defeated Nik Lentz by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 166. Allen’s most recent outing was nearly one year ago at UFC Vegas 23 where he defeated Sodiq Yusuff by UD, improving his professional record to 17-1, and 8-0 in the UFC.
As for Hooker, after nearly five years of fighting at lightweight, he drops down to 145, where he spent the first three years of his UFC career. He went 3-3 over that time as he won his debut with a TKO win over Ian Entwistle at UFC Fight Night 43. The other two wins were also finishes, as he KO’d Hatsu Hioki at UFC Fight Night 65 and submitted Mark Eddiva at UFC Fight Night 85.
After each win, Hooker suffered a loss as Maximo Blanco defeated him by UD at UFC Fight Night 52, followed by another UD loss to Yair Rodriguez at UFC 192, after the Hioki win. Finally, his last fight at featherweight ended in yet another UD defeat as he lost to Jason Knight at UFC Fight Night 101.
Over the last two years at lightweight, Hooker has struggled recently as his record over his last four outings sits at 1-3. Following a three-fight win streak with wins over James Vick, Al Iaquinta, and Paul Felder, Hooker would then go on to lose his next two straight. The first of the two was a unanimous decision loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC on ESPN 12, followed by a TKO loss to Michael Chandler at UFC 257.
After the loss to Chandler, Hooker was able to pick up a unanimous decision win over Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266. In his most recent outing, Hooker suffered another loss as Islam Makhachev submitted him in the first round of their short-notice meeting at UFC 267.
UFC Fight Night 204 – Main Card
Kicking off UFC Fight Night 204’s main card will be a fight in the lightweight division as Jai Herbert takes on Ilia Topuria. Herbert will be coming into the fight following a TKO win over Khama Worthy in his most recent outing at UFC Vegas 41, snapping a two-fight losing streak. His opponent, Topuria, will be entering the fight with an undefeated record of 11-0, 3-0 in the UFC. His last two wins were both knockouts as he defeated Damon Jackson at UFC on ESPN 19 and Ryan Hall at UFC 264.
Following that fight will be a matchup in the women’s flyweight division as Molly McCann faces Luana Carolina. McCann enters the fight coming off a win in her most recent outing which snapped a two-fight skid. That win happened at UFC Vegas 36 as she defeated Ji Yeon Kim by unanimous decision. As for Carolina, she has won the last two straight fights as she enters UFC Fight Night 204 coming off back-to-back decision wins over Poliana Botelho at UFC Vegas 25 and Lupita Godinez at UFC Vegas 40.
The third matchup on UFC Fight Night 204’s main card will be a welterweight bout between Gunnar Nelson and Takashi Sato. Nelson enters the octagon for the first time since 2019 as he has lost his last two in a row against Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 147 and Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night 160. Sato will also be looking to bounce back from a loss as he enters the fight following a submission loss to Miguel Baeza at UFC on ESPN 18.
Finally, before UFC Fight Night 204’s co-main event, lightweights Paddy Pimblett and Kazula Vargas face off. Pimblett will be entering the fight coming off a successful UFC debut last year when he defeated Luigi Vendramini at UFC Vegas 36. As for Vargas, he looks to pick up his second straight win following a unanimous decision win over Rong Zhu at UFC 261 after starting his UFC career 0-2.
