Arman Tsarukyan Reveals Timeline for his Potential Fight with Justin Gaethje

Arman Tsarukyan has sprung into UFC Lightweight Championship contention following UFC 331. Coming into the bout with a lot of pressure, Tsarukyan was finally able to shut down his haters as he clinched a dominating victory against Mauricio Ruffy. Now, as the Armenian star is looking to push for the lightweight title, he has now dropped a timeline on when he would get his coveted title fight. 

Tsarukyan recently uploaded a video on his social media speaking about when he might get an opportunity to fight Gaethje. While the 29-year-old wanted to fight the champion right away, that looks impossible now as Gaethje has decided to take the year off. Thankfully, per the recent update, Tsarukyan now has some clarity about when he will fight next. 

The 29-year-old said, “The bosses were happy with my performance. They told me 'we gonna talk to you next week'. After this I'm gonna get title fight, they said 'yes'. Next fight is gonna be for the title. I wanna fight for the title with champion Justin Gaethje. I hope this fight is gonna happen beginning of next year."

Having taken some significant damage from the fight against Topuria, Gaethje wanted to focus on his health and well being. This means that even if there is a possible matchup against Tsarukyan, it won’t happen before next year. 

Arman Tsarukyan Reflects on Justin Gaethje’s Retirement

Ever since winning the bout against Ruffy, Tsarukyan has been taking shots at the current UFC lightweight champion. Initially, he demanded that if Gaethje was not fit for fighting at the moment, he must vacate his title. Now, ‘Ahalkalakets’ has dropped some interesting takes on the probability of Gaethje’s retirement. 

The UFC lightweight contender said, “Maybe Gaethje gonna say, 'I don't wanna fight anymore. I'm retired'... Either retirement, either he's gonna ask for a big check... I think they're gonna pay him good money, and he's gonna stay."

Surely, it is evident that things are heating up at the moment. Now, it remains to be seen what happens next.
