Belal Muhammad has Stern Message for Colby Covington Ahead of Their RAF Face-Off

Belal Muhammad is using his time off from the UFC to sharpen his wrestling skills further. After losing his title to Jack Della Maddalena, Muhammad is looking to climb back up to championship contention. Before that, he will be settling a longstanding beef with Colby Covington.

As the duo has been confirmed for a RAF bout, the former UFC champion has issued a stern statement against his new opponent. 

Belal Muhammad Refuses to Shake Hands with Colby Covington

According to the latest updates, Muhammad has been confirmed to take on Covington in the main event of RAF 13 at Miami on Sept. 18. They will be fighting for the Cruiserweight Crossover Championship. Speaking about the fight recently, Muhammad stated that he will not be showing any friendliness with Covington. He also refused to shake hands following their bout. 

Muhammad said, in an interaction with BedTime MMA, “He’s gonna run with his head down in embarrassment. He’s gonna lose the match, he’s gonna come up with an excuse, he’s gonna try and get out of the public eye.”

This will be an interesting fight as the duo has quite a history. Back when Muhammad fought Ben Askren in RAF 11, Covington immediately went off on him. Blasting the former UFC champion for taking the bout to the fifth round, the former UFC star claimed that he would beat Muhammad in under 90 seconds. 

Belal Muhammad Looking to Change Weight Classes for Special Fight

Muhammad has now lost the last three of his bouts. Thus, he's not in a very good position to pick and choose his fights. But the one fight that he absolutely would want is a face-off with Kamaru Usman. While Usman is a middleweight fighter currently, the former welterweight champion is willing to switch weight classes for the fight. 

Expressing his willingness to go up in weight, Muhammad told MMA Junkie, “Oh, 100 percent. The guy I just grappled at ACBJJ was the OKTAGON middleweight champion, and we finished him in like two minutes."

At the moment, Muhammad has no set opponent in the UFC.
