Dana White Breaks Silence on Usman Nurmagomedov Nearly Hitting Song Yadong

Dana White finally reacts to Usman Nurmagomedov's cage controversy.
A few days ago, Usman Nurmagomedov faced heavy backlash after his brother Umarâs loss to Song Yadong at UFC Shanghai. While it was shocking to see âThe Young Eagleâ get knocked out in such fashion, what happened next was equally shocking. After the fight, Usman stormed into the cage with high energy, leading to a tense moment where he nearly threw a punch at Yadong while he was celebrating. Meanwhile, Dana White has shared his thoughts on the incident.
Dana White Backs Song Yadong After Usmanâs Cage Incident
After the DWCS 10, week 4, during the post-event presser, the UFC boss was asked about the controversial incident. To which White replied, âI think my thoughts were the same as everybody's. I mean, Song looked incredible and did what he needed to do in his home country. You couldn't have a better win than that. He definitely did (crossed the line). I would agree with that.â
For those who donât know, at UFC Shanghai, Umar suffered the second defeat of his career, and it was his first knockout loss. As soon as Usman saw his brother get knocked out, he rushed inside the octagon while Khabib tried to stop him. However, he went inside, and while checking on Umar, he saw Yadong running toward him and instantly threw a punch at him, which he luckily missed.
Indeed, White has seen a lot of incidents like these, and he understands the passion of fighters and their teammates. But what happened at UFC Shanghai, even he felt, was a bit too much. Meanwhile, Yadong has no complaint about Usman or any of Umarâs teammates.
Song Yadong Defends Usman Nurmagomedov After Cage Incident
While the whole internet is taking shots at Usman, the one who was on the other end himself came to Usmanâs defense. According to him, the PFL champion didnât really want to attack him, but he did all that due to his instincts.
After the fight, Yadong stated, âWatching the slow motion, it looked like he was turning around to throw an elbow or something, but actually I understand because they are brothers, you know? The internet said he wanted to maliciously attack me, he just thought I was going over to attack him. Because he went over to check on his brother, and suddenly someone runs over, like youâd definitely react that way.â
Indeed, it shows that despite all the internet backlash over Usmanâs behaviour, Yadong feels it all happened because of a misunderstanding and the situation.
