Fans Go Off on Paddy Pimblett Following Claim of Defeating Ilia Topuria

Paddy Pimblett recently made a bold claim, saying that he would beat Ilia Topuria with ease. Justin Gaethje defeated both Pimblett and Topuria in his last two UFC bouts to secure the undisputed UFC Lightweight Championship belt. 

In his bout against Gaethje, Topuria's corner stopped the fight at the end of the fourth round as the Georgian-Spanish fighter was too damaged to continue the fight. Topuria suffered fractures in both orbital bones, a broken septum, and a shattered foot. Back-to-back jabs also impaired his vision. 

Now, as the 17-1 fighter is recovering and aiming for a comeback, Paddy Pimblett has hinted at rumors of him fighting Topuria while taking a jab at him. However, Pimblett’s confidence did little to convince fans, who were quick to push back on his claim.

Social Media Users Take Paddy Pimblett to Task

One X user took a dig at the Brit fighter and commented, “Your going to leave out the octagon on a stretcher blonde p***y on how bad were going to knock you out😂😂😂😂”

Another fan added, “You’d think this guy would be more humble after Gaethje beat his a** lmao can’t wait for Ilia to humble him”

A third fan chimed in, “He wouldn’t smash his head in at all 👍 nobody believes this.”

Supporting Topuria, another UFC fan added, “I hope ilia gets to knock this b** out cold soon”

Another fan shared their analysis, mentioning, “Although Paddy pulled off a beautiful submission against BSD, this is Ilia Topuria we’re talking about, a man who once dominated that division. 👀”

An X user claimed, “Ilia would beat the s**t out of this kid.”

Paddy Pimblett Claims He Wants to “Smash” Ilia Topuria

On June 15, in the lightweight championship bout at UFC Freedom 250, Ilia Topuria was defeated by Justin Gaethje by corner stoppage at the end of round four. Pimblett, on the other hand, also accepted defeat to Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 324. However, in his last fight against Benoit Saint-Denis in UFC 329, he managed to grab the win by submission in round 1.

Following his first professional defeat, Topuria is aiming to return to the octagon soon. The Georgian-Spanish fighter posted updates on social media declaring, "We are back!!!”. 

Amid this, Pimblett has taken a dig at Topuria as the English fighter, saying, “I’d love to smash head in lad, but we need to wait and see. No one spoke to me about it.” He further added, “If I fight against this year it’ll be December.”

The long-running beef between ‘El Matador’ and ‘The Baddy’ makes the potential matchup even more interesting. While Topuria has announced that he will be returning soon, his next opponent is not yet decided. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria.
