John “Guns” Gunderson announced today that he was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight with Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante due to a neck injury suffered in training. He made the announcement on “In the Cage with Bards” on NSSRadioTV.com.

The issue stems from bulging discs in his neck, aggravated by a guillotine in training. Gunderson hopes to resume training in just over a month and will return to compete under the World Series of Fighting banner.

Gunderson is a UFC veteran who is 3-3 since leaving the promotion, including wins over Karo Parysian and Justin Buchholz. Cavalcante is a K-1 Hero’s, Dream and Strikeforce veteran with notable fights against Caol Uno, Nam Phan, Shinya Aoki and Josh Thomson.
