Hailey Cowan Retires After UFC Belgrade Loss
UFC bantamweight, Hailey Cowan has called time on her career after going 0-4 and losing at UFC Belgrade.
After signing for the UFC with a tonne of hype, Hailey Cowan has called time on her MMA career after an 0-4 run with the world's biggest promotion.
After a finish loss at the hands of Nina Milosevic this past weekend at UFC Belgrade, the American has taken off the gloves for one last time.
Hailey Cowan Calls Time
Pre-UFC
Before joining the UFC, Hailey Cowan was one of the more recognisbale names on the regional circuit. Depsite losing her debut, the American would win five straight with three finishes. Although she would have that five fight winning run snapped as a result of a guillotine loss, she would bounce back for Invicta FC with a rear naked choke victory.
This win gained her a chance on the Contender Series in 2022. She would take on Brazil's Cláudia Leite and get a win via split decision. It would be enough to gain her a contract with the UFC and she would make her debut in 2023.
UFC Run
Cowan would debut against Jamey-Lyn Horth. Her UFC run wouldn't get off to the best of starts with Cowan missing weight for her debut. On fight night, she would be beaten by Horth via decision.
Her second appearance wouldn't be until 2025 due to several injuries and cancelled fights. She would take on Nora Cornelle, losing again, however this time it would be via finish, a rear naked choke in the second round.
Cowan would face a tough test next with Alice Pereira looking for her first octagon win and it would prove to be too much for the American as she would suffer a TKO loss due to a viscious knee.
Her final UFC appearance would come this past weekend in Belgrade. Although she started well, she was caught with a accurate shot to the solar plexus, snatching the air from her body and leading to yet another finish loss. The loss in Serbia saw her slip to 0-4 in the UFC and ultimately lead to to retirement.
An overall record of 7-6 will see Cowan retire having never really lived up to her potential.
