Henry Cejudo warns Arman Tsarukyan against bringing streamers into corner for potential Justin Gaethje fight

Arman Tsarukyan brought streamer N3on into his corner for his fight against Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331. Despite the unusual choice, Tsarukyan delivered a statement win by knocking out Ruffy with brutal elbows in the first round. He will likely fight next for the title against lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. 

However, Former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo believes Tsarukyan should leave the streamers out of his corner if he gets the opportunity to face Gaethje next.

Speaking on Fred Talks Fighting, Cejudo respected Tsarukyan’s decision to bring N3on in his corner, but he feels that the Armenian should have the seriousness that the fight game needs. He suggests that elite opponents require every experienced member of the team to contribute; that's why ‘Batman’ needs a team around him that can closely analyze the fight, identify what is happening during each round, and give him the right technical adjustments.

Cejudo believes Tsarukyan may need every advantage available against an elite opponent like Gaethje. He feels a fight at that level requires a corner made up entirely of people who can provide meaningful technical advice and help a fighter make adjustments during the bout.

“Dude going up against a guy like Justin Gaethje, I wouldn't bring streamers no more, because you're gonna need everything in your armor, man, to beat this dude,” Cejudo said.

N3on’s presence in Tsarukyan’s corner at UFC 331 was not part of a long-term change to the fighter’s team. It came from a bet between the two. Though many questioned whether Tsarukyan was fully committed to the fight, he silenced the doubters and potentially earned the title shot. Now, lightweight champion Gaethje has answers whether the Armenian is next in line.

Gaethje remains skeptical about his future in the sport and whether he will return to fight, but he has assured fans that if he does, he will face Tsarukyan to defend the lightweight title.

However, he has ruled out defending his title this year.

“ is the next in line. If and when I defend this championship, that will be who I fight. I just don't know right now. I'm just going to enjoy being the champion for the rest of the year. I'm going to make a business decision and a life decision whenever the time comes,” Gaethje said.
