Jean Silva vows to defeat Yair Rodriguez: "Beat the crap out of him"

Following his first loss since joining the UFC, Jean Silva bounced back in January with a victory over Arnold Allen. The strong performance seems to have boosted his confidence. Set to make his second Octagon appearance of the year when he faces Yair Rodriguez in the Noche UFC 4 main event on Sept. 12 in Glendale, Arizona, the Brazilian has promised to hand the Mexican fighter a beating.

Jean Silva Makes it a Mission to Defeat Yair Rodriguez

After participating in Dana White's Contender Series, Silva made his UFC debut in January 2024 and has enjoyed a strong run since. During that stretch, the Brazilian has gone 6-1 in the Octagon, with his only loss coming against Diego Lopes by TKO. Now, with Rodriguez as his next opponent, Silva is confident he can deliver another strong performance. Speaking in a video uploaded by UFC Brasil on social media, "Lord" warned that he plans to beat "El Pantera."

"The main event of Noche UFC, it's me and Yair Rodriguez," Silva began. "I'm going to beat the crap out of him. I'm really looking forward to it. Yair Rodriguez, like it or not, was a champion at one point, he won a belt. I know I just need to train, be happy and give it my all. Another main event, with Brazil in the house… Like it or not, I'm going to beat the crap out of Yair Rodriguez."

Yair Rodriguez Chasing his Best Form

While Silva has been enjoying a strong run recently, Rodriguez has already seen better days. Although he defeated Patricio Freire by unanimous decision in his last Octagon appearance, the Mexican has had his ups and downs in recent years. After winning the interim featherweight title in February 2023, Rodriguez lost two consecutive fights, including a title bout against Alexander Volkanovski. Now, "El Pantera" will look to build on his latest victory and remain in the win column.

With No. 5 Rodriguez and No. 6 Silva set to meet in the main event, the matchup carries important implications for the top of the featherweight division. Both fighters are coming off victories and will have the opportunity to strengthen their position in the rankings with another win. For Silva, defeating a former interim champion would be another major step forward after establishing himself as one of the division's rising contenders. Rodriguez, meanwhile, can use the matchup to prove he is still capable of returning to the title picture.
