Michael Morales Points out Size Difference Between Him and Islam Makhachev

Michael Morales has sparked quite a hype in the UFC. With his incredible striking ability, Morales has already established himself as a menacing threat in the UFC welterweight division. Now, as he is touted to be on the probable list of opponents for Islam Makhachev, Morales has dropped an interesting comparison. 

Michael Morales was Surprised at Islam Makhachev’s Size

The 27-year-old Ecuadorian fighter is all ready to have a go at the welterweight gold. Interestingly, his recent interaction with Makhachev might have provided him with further inspiration to go all in. Morales recently caught a glimpse of Makhachev backstage. And he was reportedly surprised by the significant size difference. 

Morales said, “I saw him backstage for the interviews. There’s a very, very big difference between us in terms of height and reach.”

As Makhachev is looking for his next opponent, several critics have cited Morales as a stern opponent. And one of the key aspects that goes in favor of the 27-year-old is his size. On the contrary, when Makhachev was asked about who his favored opponent would be, the Dagestani named Carlos Prates. 

Interestingly, Morales is not the only one talking about Makhachev’s size. Joe Rogan, too, had bold advice for the UFC double champ. 

Joe Rogan Feels Islam Makhachev is Better Off at Lightweight 

Makhachev dominated the lightweight division and then decided to move up in weight. Accordingly, he has first defeated the previous champ, Jack Della Maddalena, and has now toppled Ian Garry. Yet, Rogan feels that the Dagestani champion is missing his earlier spark. 

The UFC color commentator recently said, “Look at what he did to Dustin Poirier, look at what he did to Charles Oliveira. Just crushes them. This is the difference between him at 155 and him at 170. I understand what he wants to do, but if I was in his corner I'd be like ‘maybe’.” 

Despite all the talk about size, Makhachev is still the reigning champion. Now, it would be interesting to see what comes next.
