Payton Talbott Reveals Scrapped White House Fight with Sean O’Malley
UFC's rising contender Payton Talbott revealed that he was set to fight Sean O'Malley at UFC Freedom 250 but the fight got scrapped.

The 28-year-old phenom dropped a major revelation for fight fans, disclosing that UFC officials had originally targeted a showdown between him and former champion Sean O’Malley for the high-profile White House event.
Phantom Injuries and Scrapped Plans
Speaking directly to his audience, Talbott explained that a matchup with O’Malley was actively on the table before the fight unraveled. According to the Nevada native, several intriguing matchups were pitched for the card, but every potential opponent seemed to hit the exact same sudden obstacle.
“Well, I was supposed to fight Sean (O'Malley), I was supposed to fight him, I was supposed to fight her, all kinds of names,” Talbott revealed on his channel. “But supposedly when I was supposed to fight them they all had a broken foot.”
A scrap between Talbott and O’Malley would have guaranteed absolute fireworks in the Octagon. Talbott boasts an 11-1-0 professional record with seven of those victories coming via knockout. Known for his relentless pace, the former Dana White’s Contender Series standout lands an impressive 6.62 significant strikes per minute in UFC competition. Pairing his high-volume striking against O’Malley’s explosive counter-striking on such a presidential stage would have delivered pure entertainment.
The scrapped matchup adds to a stretch of scheduling frustration for Talbott, who previously voiced disappointment after missing out on a UFC 329 bout despite opponents initially agreeing. While fighters like former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo continue to shuffle through top bantamweight matchups, Talbott remains eager to test himself against the elite.
Though the White House clash never materialized, Talbott’s appetite for massive fights proves he is ready for the division's biggest spotlights.
