Song Yadong Knocks Out Umar Nurmagomedov in Brutal Fashion
Song Yadong has knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov in brutal fashion in the UFC Shanghai main event.
UFC Shanghai is now one for the books, and in the main event, Song Yadong brutally knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov. Handing the former title challenger his first loss via finish, Yadong made a huge statement in his quest for a title shot.

After a first round which saw Nurmagomedov score a takedown and control Song Yadong, there were positive signs for the Chinese star, who managed to work his way back up to his feet. The round was certainly competitive on the feet.
The second round began with Yadong sporting a huge smile, and again the round was competitive on the feet. An accidental headbutt appeared to cut Yadong.
Song Yadong then did the unthinkable.
After several close encounters on the feet, Yadong threw a lead uppercut as Umar Nurmagomedov looked to slip and land a takedown. Countering the shot, Yadong landed a shot just behind the ear, knocking Nurmagomedov out instantly. He followed up with several ground and pound shots, but it was all over after one shot.
Running into the crowd to celebrate with his people, Yadong was ushered back to the octagon, victorious with the entire of Shanghai on his side.
Grabbing the mic after the fight, a fired-up Yadong screamed at Hunter Campbell and demanded a title shot. After a performance like that, it would be hard to deny him.

Elsewhere on the card, Denise Gomes scored a huge knockout win in the co-main event. Taking on a former title challenger in Yan Xiaonan, the Brazilian landed a vicious elbow, followed up with a scoop uppercut, separating Xiaonan from consciousness in the first round.
She wasn't the only Brazilian woman on the card who scored a sensational knockout, however. The second fight on the card provided one of the best finishes we've seen from a strawweight in a long time. Julia Polastri silenced the Chinese crowd by knocking out Jingnan Xiong with a phenomenal head kick.
Kai Asakura also continued his winning run at bantamweight, notching his second straight finish victory. The other highlight was Contender Series standout Bilal Hasan, remaining undefeated and getting his second finish in just 18 days.
