The stakes are high ahead of Liz Carmouche and Jena Bishop's second encounter, with the PFL teasing an interesting development in the building. The promotion's latest Instagram post hints that "Things Have Gotten Interesting," adding yet another layer of anticipation to a rematch that already has a championship on the line.
Carmouche and Bishop Set for High-Stakes Rematch
Carmouche and Bishop are set to take center stage at PFL Chicago on Oct. 16 at Wintrust Arena. The two will battle it out for the inaugural PFL Women's Flyweight World Championship. This matchup gives Bishop a chance to avenge her earlier defeat, while Carmouche aims to solidify her status as the top contender in the division.
Their rivalry traces back to the 2025 PFL World Tournament final, where Carmouche emerged victorious with a third-round stoppage, denying Bishop the tournament title and marking a significant setback in her career. Since then, Bishop has had a strong comeback, racking up consecutive first-round submission wins against Borena Tsertsvadze and Ariane Lipski da Silva.
When asked about Carmouche's fighting style, Bishop commented, "I think her fighting style is she's like a counter-fighter," Bishop said. "She runs away. She builds momentum bullying people, no shade but she would love to make fights boring and point fight."
Similarly, Carmouche had a lot to share about her thoughts ahead of PFL Chicago. She said, "Anger fuels me in a much different way. If the goal is to anger and you think I am going to go out there unintelligently, that's not the effect it has. No, you will need to pull me off because I will make sure they will go to the hospital."
PFL’s Tease Adds Intrigue to the Championship Picture
The promotion's Instagram post doesn't give away much in terms of details, but the intriguing line, "Things Have Gotten Interesting," definitely raises some eyebrows about the development between the two contenders as they gear up for their rematch. Without more context from the video, the exact source of tension remains unclear.
There is already a lot on the line here without adding personal drama to the equation. Carmouche comes in with a wealth of championship experience, having fought in the UFC, won the Bellator women's flyweight title, and even taken home PFL tournament gold. On the flip side, Bishop enters the match with fresh momentum and a chance to turn her earlier loss into a pivotal moment in her career
With the inaugural PFL women's flyweight championship on the line for the winner, their October showdown would really shape the division's future.
