UFC 328 Weigh-Ins: Lightweight Misses Badly May 8
UFC 328's weigh-ins took place earlier Friday.
UFC 328 is almost here. Ahead of tomorrow night's event, the contestants booked to appear during the show faced their most important test of fight week, as they tipped the scales for the official weigh-in window of UFC 328.
Live coverage of UFC 328 kicks off tomorrow in the late afternoon with the early prelims at 5 pm ET/ 2 pm PT on Paramount Plus and UFC Fight Pass in a live simulcast. The remainder of the card, beginning with the late prelims at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT and the main card at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT, will be exclusive to the Skydance-owned streaming platform.
All told, tomprrow night's schedule features a slate of 13 fights. Not all was merriment on the scales earlier this morning, however,
Jeremy Stephens Exceeds Nontitle Maximum for Bout Against King Green
Tomorrow's main card on Paramount Plus begins with a lightweight contest matching King Green (155 lbs) against Jeremy Stephens (160 lbs.) While the former weighed-in at the championship maximum of 155, the latter came in 4 lbs over the allowed weight for nontitle contests.
While the fight between Green and Stephens will proceed as scheduled. Jeremy Stephens will now forfeit 30 percent of his wages earned for UFC 328 to King Green. In addition, Stephens will no longer be eligible for any post-fight bonuses handed out tomorrow night due to the weight miss.
This was the only weight miss reported during the UFC 328 weigh-ins on Friday morning.
UFC 328 Main, Co-Main Events Locked In After UFC 328 Weigh-Ins
The main event of the evening at UFC 328 sees current UFC Middleweight Champion Khamzat Chimaev (185 lbs) fight challenger and No. 3 contender Sean Strickland (185 lbs,) Both contestants came in on-target for Saturday's fight.
Prior to that contest taking place on Saturday night, the co-main event of UFC 328 happens at flyweight. Current titleholder Joshua Van (125 lbs) battles No. 3 contender Tatsuro Taira (125 lbs.)
Much like the main event of the evening, both the champion and the challenger clocked-in at the prescribed weight for the flyweight title fight. Both championship contests are an advertised maximum of five rounds at five minutes per round.
