Should Uros Medic Been Given a Higher Ranked Opponent at UFC 334?

Uros Medic returns for the third time this year at UFC 334 in New York City, looking for his fifth straight knockout. Ranked at #10, Medic will be standing across from #14 Kevin Holland.

Many believed that Medic would have gotten a higher-ranked opponent than Holland next after his devastating knockout of Daniel Rodriguez in Serbia earlier this year; however, it wasn't to be.

Form

Heading into the fight, Medic is certainly the more in-form man. He's got a UFC record of 8-3; however, his last four fights have all been knockout victories, all of which have come in the first round, all under a minute and a half.

With a combined time of 3:55 in his last four fights, expect a quick start and potentially a quick finish. Having headlined his first main event last time out, Medic is going to be full of confidence in New York.

Holland is without a doubt a fan favourite. He always entertains on the mic and, more often than not, entertains in the octagon. With that being said, he's far from the elite of the division. He's 3-4 in his last seven fights and 1-2 in his last three. Included in those two recent losses is Daniel Rodriguez, the man who Medic just blasted away in 30 seconds.

Harsh on Medic

Medic is a must-see fighter. Holland is a must-see fighter. The match-up itself is exciting, however, it feels like Medic has been hard done by.

There are plenty of fighters ranked above Medic who haven't got a fight booked and would make for interesting match-ups.

Belal Muhammad would have made the most sense, but understandably, Muhammad would likely not have taken that fight. A perfect fight would have been Michael Page, had the UFC not cut him. Medic would have gone looking for Page, which would have made for an entertaining fight.

Ian Garry is looking to bounce back from his title fight loss, and Medic would have been a good fight for him to do that.

It isn't to be, however, and Medic will likely put on a show yet again at UFC 334.
