Alexander Volkanovski Warns Movsar Evloev about Neutralizing Usual Gameplan at UFC 333

Alexander Volkanovski has figured out the strategy that Movsar Evloev uses to earn the win in most of his fights. With their UFC 333 encounter on the cards, 'The Great' recently warned Evloev that his preferred style wouldn't work against him.

Besides the warning, Volkanovski also suggested an unlikely way which could help Evloev get the job done.

Despite attempting to stand and strike with his opponents at multiple junctures, Evloev usually trusts his high-level grappling skills to win his fights. The Russian switched over to his grapple-heavy style to earn a victory in his previous fight after Lerone Murphy took the upper hand in the initial striking battle. Even his UFC 310 victory against Aljamain Sterling came on account of his prowess on the ground.

However, Volkanovski doesn't feel that Evloev's ground game poses much of a threat to him. The reigning featherweight champion uploaded a video on his YouTube channel a few days ago where he discussed various factors related to their UFC 333 encounter. In the same video, 'The Great' blew out the idea that Evloev could cause problems for him on the ground.

The Australian said, "If Movsar believes that the clear path to victory is wrestling me and grinding me out, bring it. Bring it... I lost the fight with Islam, but I mean we made that very entertaining and you could see that I can handle that well. So you can see that just grabbing and holding on to me isn't going to work."

Volkanovski went a step ahead and also detailed how he would keep the fight on the feet. "You're going to be in for a treat because I'm going to shut that completely down and he's going to be forced on the feet with me," said the featherweight king.

Most UFC fans would happily accept that Volkanovski leaves Evloev far behind when it comes to striking. Hence, the Australian is expected to have the upper hand over his opponent if he manages to keep the fight on the feet.

As a result, Volkanovski counted a knockout as Evloev's "best bet" to win the encounter. He said, "His best bet is to land a knockout."

While Evloev has yet to respond to Volkanovski's claim, it will be interesting to witness if 'The Great' can actually neutralize his Russian opponent's most dependable strategy at UFC 333.
