Arman Tsarukyan drops Surprising Take on Grappling Matches

Arman Tsarukyan is waiting for his chance to have a go at the UFC gold. However, until that opportunity pops up, the Armenian fighter is keeping himself busy with several grappling matches outside of the UFC. According to the UFC star, Tsarukyan does not consider them super important. 

Arman Tsarukyan Prioritizes UFC over Everything

Tsarukyan last fought in the UFC back in November 2025. Utilizing his free time, the UFC star competed against Ankit Baiyanpuria at Hype Armenia. In the submission-only match, Tsarukyan showed his impressive skills and secured a comfortable victory. However, in a recent interview, ‘Ahalkalakets’ made a surprising admission. 

“It's like a training session because I don't cut weight. If I lose, I don't care, it's not my sport. But in the UFC I'm locked in,” Tsarukyan said. 

Tsarukyan has been waiting for his chance to get a shot at the UFC gold for a long time. While his dream hasn’t been fulfilled yet, things might look quite promising if the Armenian fighter manages to secure a dominant win in his upcoming bout. 

What’s Next for Arman Tsarukyan?

Tsarukyan received a significant push following his UFC 300 win against Charles Oliveira. After getting caught in a submission attempt early on, Tsarukyan recovered well to win the game. Unfortunately, things fell off from there as the 29-year-old came back to action after almost a year.

Now, the Armenian star will be up against Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331. This will be a crucial fight for the 29-year-old. If he does manage to thwart Ruffy’s vicious attempts, there's a chance that ‘Ahalkalakets’ might just get one step ahead in the title scenario of the UFC lightweight division.

However, with the likes of Paddy Pimblett, Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Ilia Topuria, and more waiting, the road might not be an easy one for the 29-year-old.
