“Hats off to both”: UFC fighters react to Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki’s UFC Noche war

UFC stars have shared their reactions to Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki’s thrilling three-round war at UFC Noche, praising both fighters for their performance.

Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki threw down in a featherweight bout in the main card of UFC Noche that went down past Saturday night at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The matchup was highly anticipated, with fans even calling it the “people’s main event” before the fight.

McMillen and Rahiki proved in the fight exactly why their bout was considered the fans' main event. They delivered a back-and-forth three-round war, and UFC fighters have now shared their reactions to the war.

The fight was a seesaw battle throughout; in the second round, Rahiki was edged as he dropped McMillen and almost finished him. However, ‘Gun’ bounced back in the third. He knocked down ‘Freaky’ and later dominated him in the grappling exchange. 

After three rounds of back-and-forth war, the fight went to the judges, who scored 29–28, 29–28, 29–27 in favor of McMillen. 

This fight drew reactions from top UFC fighters, who took to X to share their thoughts. Former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili rains heap praises on the fight, writing, “What a great fight between Tommy McMillen vs Marwan Rahiki. wow” 

Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson also praised both fighters, but particularly highlighted McMillen’s conditioning and ability to rally after facing adversity.

“Man the heart and cardio on mcmillen is crazy! Rahiki hung in there but mcmillen dominated that 3rd rnd from beginning to end! Hats off to both guys! Warriors,” Thompson wrote on X. 

Kevin Holland kept his reaction short, writing, “Damn what a fun fight @ufc.”

Meanwhile, Belal Muhammad provided a technical assessment of the fight and feels McMillen did not commit fully to getting the submission over Rahiki. 

“I think he should wrestle more in his fights he has good grappling.. Marwan had good sub defense and Tommy never really committed to the choke I feel like he was happier punching,” Muhammad wrote.

McMillen and Rahiki will leave the Arizona with $100K more each in their purses as their battle won the fight of the night bonus. That said, it also marked ‘Freaky' career first loss. 

With the momentum on the McMillen side, he wants to continue it and has already shared when he wants to be back inside the octagon. 

Tommy McMillen reveals when he wants to fight next

In his octagon interview, McMillen expressed that he wants to be back for UFC 335 happening in December at T-Mobile Arena and has his eye on another bonus in his return. 

“I'll be there December 12 waiting for my next victim. and next 100K bonus,” McMillen said.
