Alexander Volkanovski speaks about the crowd booing Movsar Evloev ahead of UFC 333 showdown

Alexander Volkanovski reflects on the backlash his upcoming opponent has received.

The Great admits that he felt bad for Movsar Evloev amidst the fan backlash

Alexander Volkanovski (28-4)  is moving towards his seventh title defence spread across both his reigns as the featherweight champion. This time the title challenger is the undefeated Russian featherweight Movsar Evloev. They are set to meet in the octagon for UFC 333 on Oct. 24.

However, the Russian was faced with a hostile crowd during the UFC 333 press conference. The situation got extremely agitated when the crowd started aggressively booing him. Evloev was quick to silence the crowd.

“Just shut up, you f**king idiots”, he said.

During Volkanovski’s recent appearance on the “Precision with Mighty and Izzy” podcast, he opened up about experiencing that moment. He mentioned that the booing ultimately got into his own head instead of his opponent’s.

“I’m weird. Even when we were doing the press conference, everyone was booing him, and I was feeling bad. The booing is meant to get in his head, but it’s getting more in my head.”

The fighter continued, “A lot of people don’t like his style. Which I guess I can understand.” He agreed that Evloev has taken the long road, but he deserves the fight.

“I’m glad it’s happening”, he said finally.

Volkanovski currently is in a tie with Jose Aldo for the most title-fight wins in UFC featherweight history. If he gets his hand raised against Evloev, he will be winning both fights at the same time. That being said, the title bout won’t be the only attraction of UFC 333.

Petr Yan looks forward to landing a knockout

Petr Yan will be meeting Merab Dvalishvili in an epic trilogy matchup for the co-main event of UFC 333. After a stunning upset last December, the current Bantamweight champion is nothing but optimistic about the upcoming bout.

"I think that is going to be no less exciting of a fight."

Petr Yan regained his 135-pound belt after dominating the Georgian in UFC 323.

“No Mercy” continued, “I think it's going to be just as exciting. And I think this time around, I want to prove myself and also to everybody else that wasn't a fluke, that there was a reason for that.”

“And hopefully this time, it's going to be a knockout," he stated finally.
