Jan Błachowicz welcomes Robert Whittaker fight with social media callout
Despite just coming off a brutal TKO loss, Jan Błachowicz is looking ahead and is eyeing a clash with Robert Whittaker, who just moved up to light heavyweight.
At 43 years old, Jan Błachowicz still feels that he has more left in the tank than he's given credit for. Just seven days removed from his latest loss, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has taken to X to challenge Robert Whittaker, an ex-UFC middleweight titleholder and the latest additition to the light heavyweight division.

On episode #693 of BISPING's BELIEVE YOU ME podcast, Robert Whittaker highlighted the fighters he'd like to face now that he's a ranked light heavyweight. While he dismissed a bout with Paulo Costa, who has also moved to the division, because the two men already fought back at UFC 298, where 'The Reaper' won via unanimous decision, he did name the division's former champions Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Błachowicz as ideal opponents, along with Bogdan Guskov. Naturally, this prompted Błachowicz to respond to Whittaker with a callout on X.

It's a bold response from Błachowicz, who has struggled for form as of late. However, it's only sensible that he's determined to bounce back from his latest loss.

At UFC Serbia, Błachowicz faced the undefeated Navajo Stirling in the co-main event. Although he wasn't completely steamrolled, even hurting Stirling early on, he was ultimately TKO'd halfway through round one. The loss has now left the former light heavyweight champion winless in his last five fights, and at 43 years old, retirement seems like a wiser option than fighting again. Especially against Whittaker, who remains a high-level fighter, and with newfound power at light heavyweight. After back-to-back losses at middleweight to Khamzat Chimaev, who submitted him in round one at UFC 308, and Reinier de Ridder, who beat him via split-decision at UFC on ABC 9, 'The Reaper' moved up to face Nikita Krylov at UFC 329.
In an impressive performance, Whittaker broke Krylov's jaw early in round three for a TKO win, snapping his losing streak to announce himself to the light heavyweight division.
