Jean Silva Ready for title shot against Evloev or Volkanovski: "I'm Next"
Jean Silva believes he is next in line for the title shot after the Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev fight, he also revealed who he thinks will win that fight
If there is one thing Jean Silva does not lack, it is absolute confidence. The Fighting Nerds featherweight contender is gearing up for a high-stakes clash against Jose Delgado at Noche UFC but his eyes are already fixed on the biggest prize in the 145-pound division.
Silva recently made his intentions clear regarding the upcoming featherweight title fight between reigning champion Alexander Volkanovski and undefeated contender Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. While many fighters prefer to focus strictly on the opponent in front of them, Silva has no issue mapping out his immediate path to gold.
He believes Evloev will emerge victorious against Volkanovski, setting up a showdown between himself and the Russian wrestler. However, if injury or bad luck strikes the main event, Silva is ready to jump into the spotlight on short notice.
"I think Evloev wins, lt’ll be me and him," Silva said. "But if Evloev pulls out, then it’s me and Volkanovski . It doesn’t matter, I'm next."
Eyeing the Featherweight Crown
That kind of bold statement might sound like bravado, but Silva has consistently backed up his talk inside the Octagon. Currently sitting at No. 6 in the featherweight rankings, the 29-year-old Brazilian holds an impressive 17-3 professional record. Since making his promotional entry through Dana White’s Contender Series, Silva has established himself as one of the most entertaining and dangerous forces in the weight class.
According to official UFC stats, Silva averages 4.82 significant strikes landed per minute with 51% accuracy, while shutting down 78% of opponent takedown attempts. Out of his 17 career victories, 12 have come by knockout and three by submission, highlighting his finishing instincts. His resume already boasts impressive wins over top opposition, including a guillotine choke submission over Bryce Mitchell and a hard-fought decision against Arnold Allen.
Before he can push for a title fight at UFC 333 or beyond, Silva must first handle business against Delgado. Currently ranked No. 15, Delgado brings distinct physical advantages with a four-inch edge in both height and reach. However, Silva's relentless pace, elite striking accuracy, and dangerous submission game present a massive step up in competition for the prospect.
Whether Silva gets his desired matchup against Evloev, fills in against Volkanovski on short notice, or meets the champion down the road, his message remains clear: the Fighting Nerds star is convinced his time at the very top of the division is arriving very soon.
