Khamzat Chimaev Fires Back at Sean Strickland
Sean Strickland is unhappy with his UFC contract and said that he may be done with MMA, as MMA training is brutal. He instead wants to box as it is easier on the body and pays better.
"You all, I think I'm just frustrated because my body is crashing because MMA training is brutal. My heart just isn't in MMA anymore. Groin tear, AC joint separation. I just don't think my heart is in MMA anymore. Boxing there is more money and it's significantly easier."
Strickland also shared photos of injuries he suffered during training camp while explaining to fans why he does not want to enter the octagon again.
Khamzat Chimaev believes Strickland is simply trying to gain sympathy, as such injuries can happen to anyone. 'Borz' did not hold back while commenting on Strickland's post:
"You are biggest bullsh*t, this sh*t happens with all of us, don’t be a bi*ch, this is your champ ?"
Khamzat Chimaev's Remarks Latest Salvo in Rivalry with Sean Strickland.
The feud comes months after Strickland snatched Chimaev's title at UFC 328 by split decision. This was "Borz's" first loss in his MMA career. After the title loss, Chimaev wanted an immediate title rematch but later said he is willing to wait because Nassourdine Imavov deserves to be next in line to fight Strickland.
However, with Strickland delaying his title defense against Imavov, Chimaev could face an even longer wait. Strickland is yet to clarify whether he will vacate the middleweight title and leave the UFC or stay and defend it. Thus, the division's future remains uncertain, and important fights cannot be made currently.
Chimaev also seems frustrated, as he has been training hard to bounce back from his title loss and has asked the UFC to give him a fight as soon as possible. However, if he does not get a fight by the end of the year, the former champion has suggested taking some time off to recover, as he is currently dealing with several minor injuries.
