Usman Nurmagomedov's manager makes bold prediction for potential UFC fight against Ilia Topuria

Usman Nurmagomedov strengthened his case as one of the world's best lightweights on Friday night at PFL New York. Headlining the event at UBS Arena, the PFL lightweight champion knocked out Archie Colgan in under four minutes in the opening round to retain his title and improve his undefeated professional record to 22-0.

The victory also marked the end of Nurmagomedov's current PFL contract, making him one of the biggest free agents in MMA. While the PFL is expected to make a lucrative offer to retain him, many fans have called for the Dagestani star to sign with the UFC. 

The performance earned the PFL champion praise from fans and pundits, with many already discussing potential matchups for him if he joins the UFC. His manager, Ali Abdelaziz, took the discussion a step further by making the bold prediction that Nurmagomedov would beat former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.

Ali Abdelaziz Thinks Usman Nurmagomedov Would Stop Topuria Quicker than Gaethje

Abdelaziz took to X to share his prediction. Referencing Justin Gaethje's victory over Topuria at UFC Freedom 250, the longtime manager claimed Nurmagomedov would achieve an even more emphatic result.

He wrote on X: "I told everyone before that Justin Gaethje would beat Ilia Topuria. And I'm telling you today: Usman Nurmagomedov will stop Ilia Topuria within four rounds."

Topuria entered the bout against Gaethje as the favorite, with many fans and pundits counting out ‘The Highlight’ after ‘El Matador’ had finished his previous three opponents, Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira.

However, Gaethje stayed composed and executed his game plan to perfection, handing Topuria the first loss of his professional career via fourth-round corner stoppage to capture the UFC lightweight title at the White House.

Abdelaziz now believes Nurmagomedov could repeat that feat if the undefeated PFL champion signs with the UFC. Dana White also appears interested in signing the PFL lightweight champion. When asked about the possibility during a press conference, White responded positively.

Whether that matchup ever materializes remains to be seen, as Nurmagomedov is expected to weigh his options between re-signing with the PFL and testing free agency to pursue a move to the UFC.
