The current UFC heavyweight title challenger has taken a shot at Alexander Volkov’s resume after the latter called him an “easy fight.”

Josh Hokit (10-0) remains undefeated in the UFC and has wins over the likes of Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes. Four of his five victories have come via a finish.

With his resume, Hokit has emerged as one of the promotion’s most prominent names. He is set to fight for the title next. Despite Hokit’s record, Volkov believes he would be an easy opponent to beat.

Josh Hokit Responds to Alexander Volkov

Alexander Volkov will face Rizvan Kuniev at UFC 333 on 24 October in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of his heavyweight fight, during an interview with Helen Yee, Volkov predicted Hokit's upcoming title fight.

“For me, it will be the easiest fight ever, easier title shot. As I see my fight with Josh Hokit, sorry, Josh Hokit, I don't want to say something bad about you. You are a nice guy. So, this is the easy way, but I don't know what will really happen, but we should probably bet on Gane,” Volkov said.

In response, the next day Hokit posted on social media. “Volkov saying he’d beat me easy is funny... he’ll never get the chance. I just beat Blaydes and Lewis. Volkov lost to BOTH. Now he’s fighting Kuniev (who Blaydes beat), after squeaking by Almeida (who Blaydes dominated). I'm going to kill Ciryl, who he lost to twice. Zero finishes, pure boring. By the time you earn a fight with me, I’ll already be dominating LH.”

Volkov (40-11) is a heavyweight veteran, but his career has had its share of ups and downs. Unlike Hokit, the 37-year-old has lost to Ciryl Gane twice. However, many believe the decisions were controversial. Meanwhile, Hokit now has a chance to claim the gold against the same opponent.

UFC 334: Hokit vs. Gane

Riding a five-fight win streak, Josh Hokit will face new heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 334. The fight is scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden on November 14.

Hokit has become a household name thanks to his antics and mic skills. However, it remains to be seen whether he can back up his personality with performances inside the cage and capture the title.
