Welterweights collide in this week’s UFC main event as MMASucka brings you UFC Vegas 51 Results throughout the card. The main event will feature a rematch between fifth-ranked contender Vicente Luque and sixth-ranked contender Belal Muhammad.
UFC Vegas 51 Results – Main Event
The first time Luque and Muhammad faced each other was in 2016 at UFC 205. In that fight, Luque finished Muhammad in under two minutes by knockout for his fourth win in a row at the time. Since their first meeting, each of them has made twelve appearances. Over that time, Luque put together a record of 10-2 while Muhammad compiled a record of 10-1, 1 NC.
Immediately following the win over Muhammad in their first meeting, Luque would end up losing during his next outing as Leon Edwards defeated him by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 107. After that, Luque went on to win his next six straight fights picking up wins over Niko Price, Chad Laprise, Jalin Turner, Bryan Barberena, Derrick Krantz and Mike Perry.
That win streak earned him a matchup with former title challenger Stephen Thompson. Unfortunately, Thompson would snap Luque’s losing streak, defeating him by unanimous decision. Since that loss, Luque has been able to put together another win streak as he has won his last four straight.
Those last four straight have all been finishes as the first two were KO/TKO wins, picking up another win over Niko Price, this time by TKO, at UFC 249 followed by a knockout win over Randy Brown at UFC Fight Night 173. After the win over Brown, Luque picked up a submission win over former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 260. Luque followed that up with another submission win over Michael Chiesa in his most recent outing at UFC 265. Luque will look to up the score on Muhammad with another win and rise closer to the top of the ranks.
After Muhammad suffered the knockout loss to Luque in their first meeting, he went on to win his next four straight fights over Randy Brown, Jordan Mein, Tim Means and Chance Rencountre. That win streak was snapped at UFC Fight Night 143 when he lost a unanimous decision against Geoff Neal.
Since that loss to Neal, Muhammad has not lost another fight, winning his next six out of seven fights with one no contest along the way. Prior to the no contest and after the loss against Neal, Muhammad put together four straight wins over Curtis Millender, Takashi Sato, Lyman Good and Dhiego Lima.
The no contest occurred after the Lima fight in Muhammad’s first UFC main event as he faced Leon Edwards at UFC Vegas 21 after Muhammad could no longer continue following an eye poke. Since then, Muhammad has put together two straight impressive decision wins, defeating Demian Maia at UFC 263 and Stephen Thompson at UFC Vegas 45. Muhammad hopes to get his revenge on Luque this time around as he would crack the top five with a win.
UFC Vegas 51 Results – Co-Main Event
UFC Vegas 51’s co-main event will feature a matchup in the middleweight division as Caio Borralho faces off against Gadzhi Omargadzhiev. In this co-main event, both fighters will be making their UFC debuts following successful showings on Dana White‘s Contender Series.
After starting his career 8-1 with one no contest, Borralho made his first appearance on the Contender Series in week 5 of last summer’s season. In that fight, he won by unanimous decision against Aaron Jeffrey. That win would not grant him a contract just yet as Borralho made another appearance three weeks later. During his second appearance, he finished his opponent, Jesse Murray, in the first round to secure himself a UFC contract.
As for Omargadzhiev, he appeared only one time on the Contender Series last summer during week nine. In that fight, he won by submission in the first round, submitting Jansey Silva with a kneebar to earn his contract and improve his record to 13-0.
UFC Vegas 51 Results – Main Card
Kicking off UFC Vegas 51 will be a fight in the welterweight division as Mounir Lazzez takes on Ange Loosa. Lazzez comes into the fight with a 1-1 record in the UFC after he made a successful UFC debut against Abdul Razak Alhassan in which he won by unanimous decision. He suffered a TKO loss in his most recent outing against Warlley Alves at UFC on ESPN 20.
Loosa will be entering the fight on short notice, making his UFC debut with a record of 8-2. He appeared on the Contender Series during week three of last summer where he would lose to Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision. In his one fight since then, Loosa picked up a UD win over John Howard at XMMA 4.
Following that matchup on the main card, Pat Sabatini and TJ Laramie face off in a featherweight bout. Sabatini enters the fight with a 3-0 record in the UFC as he has won his last five in a row overall. His most recent fight took place at UFC Vegas 43 where he defeated Tucker Lutz by unanimous decision.
Laramie will be entering the fight coming off a failed debut in his last fight that took place more than a year ago at UFC Fight Night 178. In that fight, Laramie would lose by submission in under a minute against Darrick Minner.
The third fight on Saturday’s main card will be a pairing in the women’s bantamweight division between Mayra Bueno Silva and Wu Yanan. Since making her UFC debut at 5-0, Bueno Silva has since put together a record of 2-2-1 in the UFC. In her last two outings, she has fought to a draw with Montana De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 186 and has been defeated by unanimous decision against Manon Fiorot at UFC Vegas 40.
Yanan will also be entering this fight coming off of a loss as she too started her UFC career with a very good record of 11-1, but has since gone 1-3 since making her UFC debut. She comes into Saturday night on a two fight losing streak after suffering back-to-back decision losses against Mizuki Inoue at UFC Fight Night 157 and against Joselyne Edwards at UFC on ABC 1.
Finally, before the co-main event will be another middleweight matchup as Miguel Baeza takes on Andre Fialho. After starting his career 10-0, Baeza enters this fight on a two fight losing streak. Those two losses include a unanimous decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Vegas 28 followed by a third round TKO loss to Khaos Williams at UFC Vegas 42.
Fialho enters the fight after failing to pick up a win in his UFC debut during his last outing. After starting his career 14-3, with one no contest, Fialho made his UFC debut at UFC 270 where he would lose by unanimous decision to Michel Pereira.
