The light heavyweight king had a turbulent 2025. Poatan was coming off an epic year in 2024, going 3-0 with three finishes, including headlining the historic UFC 300. 2025 didn’t start as smoothly for Alex Pereira as he suffered his first loss at light heavyweight when he lost to Magomed Ankalaev in a one-sided decision.

He did, however, bounce back in epic fashion when he rematched the Russian, blasting away his foe in just 1:20 in one of the most shocking finishes of the year. He also won MMASucka’s comeback of the year award for this victory.

Tracy Cortez has a similar 2025 as her new partner, Alex Pereira. She also went 1-1, defeating Viviane Araujo via unanimous decision. She started well against Erin Blanchfield at UFC 322, however, she was submitted in the second round.

Alex Pereira and Tracy Cortez Go Official

Taking to Instagram, both Pereira and Cortez posted photos of the two together to welcome in the new year.

It isn’t the first time that Cortez has been in a relationship with an active UFC fighter. The Mexican-American was in a very public relationship with former featherweight title contender, Brian Ortega. The two were previously engaged, however, the marriage never came to fruition.

Will we see Tracy Cortez begin to knock out flyweights with the vigour of an Alex Pereira left hook? Only time will tell…
