Ariel Helwani Advocates for Arman Tsarukyan’s UFC Title Shot

UFC 331 came as a happy hunting outing for Arman Tsarukyan. Following his incredible win against Charles Oliveira at UFC 300, things fell apart for the Armenian star. To make matters worse, his injuries added further to Tsarukyan’s woes.

Thankfully, despite all the adversities, ‘Ahalkalakets’ has now successfully made a statement about his credibility to compete for the lightweight belt. Reflecting on the topic, Ariel Helwani has expressed strong support for the 29-year-old. 

In one of Helwani’s recent podcasts, the analyst expressed his admiration for the lightweight fighter. Looking at Tsarukyan’s career path, Helwani pointed out how well the 29-year-old has navigated through every negative moment over the last few years to reach such a level. 

In a recent post on his X account, Helwani wrote, “Arman Tsarukyan is a lesson to any fighter who gets thrown into the ‘doghouse’." You have to take matters into your own hands and dictate your future. You can't sit around hoping things eventually change.”

He also added, “Arman stayed active, kept himself relevant, took every opportunity that came his way. And then that KO multiplies all of it by 10. You couldn't have asked for anything more. He has to get the title shot next.”

Before coming into the bout, there was a lot of pressure on Tsarukyan. In fact, if he had ensured a decision victory, that might not have been enough to guarantee the Armenian a title shot. But now that things have played out differently, the calls for his deserved title shot are gaining momentum.

Until UFC 331, the lightweight title scenario only revolved around two names. Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. But the equation changed completely when Tsarukyan secured a KO victory within the first five minutes of his fight. Looking at how well the Armenian has worked on improving his game, Rogan could not help but praise ‘Ahalkalakets.’

“Get that man a title fight. There's nothing else to say. That is, right there, the No. 1 contender in the world. No ifs, ands or buts about it. That guy just made a statement,” Rogan said. 

He also added, “He knocked Ruffy into the shadow realm with two elbows. Just spectacular. I can't remember the last time someone standing elbow KO'd someone."
